The Outpatient Psychiatry Clinic provides urgent and acute consultation for severe mental health problems for children/youth up to the age of 18 from across North Simcoe Muskoka.

The Social Worker participates as an integral member of the multidisciplinary health care team in the provision of patient care. As the Social Worker, the purpose of your role is to provide comprehensive psychosocial assessments and interventions to individuals and their families (safety planning, gathering collateral information, conflict management and referral triaging).

Roles and responsibilities
- Review/Triage/navigate all incoming psychiatric referrals
- Service navigation for youth and families seen by psychiatry and psychology (?)
- Conduct psychosocial assessment for appropriate youth and families in order to assist with service navigation
- Assist psychiatry with referrals to community based services
- Brief intervention (if available) with youth and families in crisis at the time of their appointment with psychiatry
- Internal consultation for pediatric diabetic clinic, eating disorder program, crisis team as needed
- Providing coverage for the Social Worker on the Child and Youth Inpatient unit and Day Program.
- Masters of Social Work degree from an accredited School of Social Work
- Registration with Ontario College of Certified Social Workers/Social Services Workers mandatory
- Minimum of two years of progressive clinical experience in a health care setting
- Sounds knowledge of the Child and Family Services Act
- Understanding of the DSM IV
- Risk Assessment experience
- Computer proficiency
- Strong written and oral communication skills
