**Company Description**
Fogo Island Inn is an initiative of Shorefast, whose mission is to build cultural and economic resilience on Fogo Island and promote community well-being by building and sharing new models of economic development. By ‘holding on and reaching out’, Shorefast works with hospitality, art, technology, business, and design to enhance and share the natural assets of place.

The **Outdoor Adventure Guide **is based at Fogo Island Inn, coordinates the Community Host program, through designing a schedule of activities for guests. The **Outdoor Adventure Guide **possesses respect and knowledge for the history and culture of rural Newfoundland, particularly for Fogo Island.

**General responsibilities**
- Lead Inn guests on hikes on either of our registered trails.
- Be knowledgeable of flora and fauna on Fogo Island.
- Be willing to lead hikes in poor weather conditions while always keeping the safety of our guests the number one priority.
- Conduct daily inspections of outdoor clothing and equipment as well as weekly inventory checks.
- Must ensure guests are wearing the appropriate outdoor clothing for the season.
- Assist delivery of outdoor programs for Inn guests.
- Assist all in house guests with planning for outdoor activities during their stay.
- Be knowledgeable of different navigation techniques and GPS systems.
- Be knowledgeable about the history of Fogo Island.
- Must have current first aid training and some basic outdoor survival skills.
- Other responsibilities as directed by management
- Certified Canadian Driver’s License
- Strong communication and oral skills
- Quick to respond and capable of making sound decision making
- Personable
