Beaches Sandbox is currently seeking a Summer Camp Coordinator to oversee the daily operations of the 2024 Summer Camp.

The position of Summer Camp Coordinator involves overseeing a camp consisting of multiple groups of up to 15 children aged 5-10, senior and junior camp counsellors and CITs for 8 weeks in the summer. The Summer Camp Coordinator will oversee camp counsellors’ program planning, delivery, supervision, and communication with parents/guardians, children, and the community. The Camp Coordinator will be expected to accompany campers and counsellors on all excursions outside of Beaches Sandbox, whether that be the park, playground, wading pools or field trips. They will ensure the staff focus on the safety and well-being of all children registered for the program, all while providing a fun and engaging camp experience. Applicants should be organized, responsible, and comfortable working with kids and answering any questions parents or guardians may have regarding the camp. Leadership qualities, prior experience as a camp counsellor or camp coordinator, valid first aid & CPR certificate are required. This position requires the ability to commit to mandatory training and an 8-week camp period.

**Requirements**:
Duties and Responsibilities:

- Plans, organizes, directs, manages, and oversees camp programs.
- Directs and oversees the development of camp program plans and schedules to ensure they are age appropriate as well as incorporate the principles of healthy child development (HIGH FIVE).
- Assists counsellors with the planning and implementation of all camp crafts, activities, and games.
- Assists in recruitment, hiring and training of staff and CITs.
- Provide ongoing direction and feedback (verbal and written) to camp staff to support and assist staff with skill and professional development.
- Performs any administrative tasks that are necessary to support the program.
- Takes action to deal with incidents, problems, emergencies, and parent/caregiver concerns/inquiries.
- Interacts with staff, participants, parents/caregivers, and other community members to provide program information.
- Ensures supplies and equipment are ordered and maintained in a safe working condition.
- Attends and participates in meetings and training sessions.

Qualifications:

- Must be over the age of 19 years.
- Post-secondary education in recreation or related fields or related would be an asset.
- Must provide proof of valid CPR/First Aid Training.
- Ability to direct staff
- Must have the ability to commit to mandatory training as well as 8 weeks in the summer from July 3 - August 25.
- Experience working with parents and/or guardians.
- Experience directing, planning, and administering camps and/or recreational programs for children.
- Post-secondary education in recreation or related fields or related would be an asset.
- Must provide proof of valid CPR/First Aid Training.
- Ability to direct staff
- Must be able to provide 2 references.
- Must be willing to obtain a Vulnerable Sector Check and Criminal Record Check

Compensation:

- $25-28/hr

Hours:

- Camp will run from July 2 - August 23, 2024.

Pay Rate: $25 - $28/hr

**Job Type**: Seasonal

**Salary**: $28.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Day shift
- Monday to Friday
- No weekends

Work Location: In person
