**Human Resource Director**

**Position **Summary**

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Human Resource Director (HRD) is accountable for all aspects of HR activities at the CBA. The HRD will be a hands-on leader, able to provide and assist with day-to-day activities when required, while planning and executing operational and multi-year strategic programs and projects in the 3-5+ year timeframe. The HRD act as a strategic business partner to senior leadership and will oversee change management and organizational transformation of HR business models to support continuous improvement of pan-organizational activities to improve retention, labour/employee relations, organizational development, and total rewards for CBA staff. This is a senior leadership position requiring a high level of interaction with Board members and branch staff, and a high level of discretion and confidentiality.

**Languages**

The CBA delivers services in both of Canada’s official languages. Fluent bilingual skills, both written and oral, are required.

**Annual Salary**

$123,000-$130,000 per year

**Responsibilities**
- Oversee all aspects of HR activities pan-organization
- Lead, coach and manage HR team of 4-6 direct and indirect reports
- Lead cross-functional collaboration with senior leadership as a strategic business partner to design and implement HR strategies across the organization
- Lead and oversee the development of a 3-5+ HR strategic plan in line with strategic objectives and employment regulations
- Lead the research and analysis of organizational and employee trends, develop and improve strategic data-driven employee lifecycle management processes
- Facilitates and leads professional development for senior leadership and managers to elevate skills and leadership development
- Lead succession management process to ensure viability of organizational structures
- Ensure compliance with legislation such as Occupational Health and Safety Act, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, Pay Equity Act, and Employment Standards Act
- Lead and oversee consultations with external consultants, vendors, and service providers to find financial efficiencies in support of providing best service value to employees and national office staff
- Lead and advise on Labour and Employee Relations activities, accommodation and return to work process, and internal investigations
- Oversee union-management and Joint Health and Safety Committee meetings
- Provide advice to Board of Directors on HR issues pan-organization
- Oversee front-office administration
- Manage departmental budget
- Other duties and projects as assigned

**Qualifications**

**Education**
- Bachelor’s degree with specialization in Human Resources, Labour Relations or equivalent
- Master’s degree in Human Resources or Business Administration is an asset
- Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) is required
- Certified Human Resources Executive (CHRE) is considered an asset

**Experience**
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in HR roles of progressively increasing responsibilities
- Minimum 6 years’ experience managing direct and indirect reports
- Minimum 3 years’ experience as a HR Manager overseeing full-cycle HR functions and/or pan-organizational HR processes
- Minimum 3 years’ experience working in a unionized environment
- Expert and in-depth knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements for HR functioning of a non-profit organization

**Skills and Abilities**:

- Exceptional leadership skills with an ability to positively influence outcomes while mentoring and coaching colleagues, peers and staff to build consensus
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and ability to provide HR advice and resolve complex policy and collective agreement disputes with internal and external stakeholders
- Exceptional ability to build consensus among management, unionized membership, and key internal and external stakeholders with complex needs and interests, having impacts of a strategic nature pan-organization
- Exceptional data-driven research and analysis skills to support development of new and/or novel data-driven HR processes with pan-organizational impacts
- Exceptional ability to manage multiple demands in a fast-paced environment and managing organization-wide HR functions and services, concurrent to undertaking duties outside of traditional HR functions
- Exceptional skills in Office suite to be self-sufficient without administrative support
- Ability to work in both official languages is required
- This position requires a high level of confidentiality and discretion
