We are currently searching for hands-on **General Foremen** to work in various locations throughout Winnipeg.

**Job Summary**

The General Foreman is a professional who supervises and offers direction to people working on a construction site, as well as performing the physical labour that is necessary when needed. Their main responsibility is ensuring that the construction work is completed safely, on time and on budget. Effective construction supervision requires a wide variety of skills, such as people skills (communication, teamwork, conflict resolution, coaching), technical skills (planning, meetings, and delegation), and management skills (human resources and authentic leadership).

**Job Duties**
- Be on the construction site in order to ensure that set standards are adhered to
- Regularly perform labour work as needed
- Champion and maintain a safe and secure and healthy work environment by adhering to and enforcing safety legislation and company policies
- Ensure that all other employees are complying to safety codes and requirements, especially those of tidiness and cleanliness of the warehouses
- Lead, organize, direct and control activities and people on the job site
- Provide oversight of field activities to ensure personnel and site safety
- Work with Project Managers on the construction site in order to determine the working priorities
- Provide direction to and monitor the activities of subcontractors to ensure compliance with specifications and procedures
- Prepare and follow schedules and assign work to construction personnel
- Prepare/review reports and forecasts, including summary of construction progress, job labour forecasts
- Determine work methods that result to improved efficiency and productivity in the work place
- Anticipate potential problem areas and analyze and recommend solutions or corrective actions
- Keep project management informed of project status, highlighting deviations from plans
- Ensure that the reports, records, timesheets and invoices are approved by the construction authorities and submitted on time
- Ensure that the construction work is completed within projected deadlines and adhere to set budget
- Manage and develop labour force, including assessment of individual competencies, understanding employment standards, building a respectful workplace, managing the progressive discipline process, and conflict resolution
- Communicate professionally and effectively with all stakeholders (Project Managers, Engineers, Owners, Customers, Staff, and Public)
- Responsible for upkeep, repair and inventory of equipment, vehicles, tools, materials on the jobsite
- Understand and interpret plans, drawings and specifications

**Skills/Abilities/Requirements**
- High School Diploma, GED or equivalent preferred
- 3 years of experience as a Foreman or Construction Supervisor in any related trade
- Experience in commercial/industrial concrete restoration projects is an asset
- A Valid Driver’s license is required
- Understanding of proper safety procedures and recognition of hazards
- A positive attitude and willingness to direct co-workers
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, specifications, and construction documents is a must
- Understanding of concrete restoration techniques and experience in the concrete restoration industry is preferred
- Advanced MS Office skills is preferred
- Knowledge of First Aid and CPR preferred
- Time management skills
- Knowledge of appropriate materials, methods, and the tools required in various construction processes
- Working mechanical knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
- Ability to readily determine the correct tools and equipment needed to do a job
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must be able to document crew activities, job progress, timekeeping, and safety reporting
- Required to use company specific procedures to request materials, personnel or other resources necessary to complete assigned tasks
- Possess organizational skills to plan the activities of others, and to manage and participate in meetings with their workers and other on-site personnel
- Possess strong Supervision/Delegation skills
- Respect diversity - treat others with respect
- Will be required to work with his crew on the smaller scale projects

**Work Conditions and Physical Requirements**
- Use of Personal Protection Equipment will be required (e.g. hard-hat, safety boots, etc.)
- Regularly works in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust
- Position may be physically strenuous
- Lifting, pulling, standing, crouching for long periods of time.
- Work at high elevations (scaffold, swing stages) and in confined spaces
- Manual dexterity required
- Performance of repetitive tasks
- Interacts with employees, management, and the public at large.
