Rainbow’s End is a Hamilton based charity that manages a series of social enterprises that include a well established property maintenance service, Mow-Town. We are searching for a motivated person for Mow-Town; The individual will lead the landscaping team(s) and have a range of general landscaping experience.

The foreperson is the team lead in all senses. They will head-up all summer and winter work teams, undertaking residential cutting, trimming and a broad range of garden maintenance work, plus snow clearing in the winter. We offer a competitive wage and reasonable work hours (7.5 hour days, starting 7:30/8:0 am). The work is all local, avoiding a long commute.

Physically capable, the foreperson will plan and schedule the work for the teams. The role requires an enthusiastic attitude and is suitable for a young (..or young at heart) individual who likes outdoor work and a diversity of challenges. They will be supported by the Executive Director.

The foreperson will interact extensively with customers, providing simple job quotes, and working on larger project proposals with the Executive Director. Good communication and the ability to use a computer or i-Pad would be very advantageous.

Rainbow’s End is a very positive, collaborative and supportive environment that has the employment of people living with mental health challenges, and the Executive Director will provide oversight and guidance to the supervisor when required.

**Operational Responsibilities**
- Select and lead regular landscaping teams, ensuring the satisfactory and timely completion of the landscaping work.
- Providing guidance to employees who have different levels of experience in the following: safe and efficient work practices, appropriate behaviours, customer interactions and equipment care.
- Operate landscaping equipment, including: mowers, tillers, trimmers and be confident and comfortable driving a truck and trailer.
- Build a weekly schedule of cuts and ensure team-members are timetabled to meet that schedule.

**Business Development Responsibilities**
- Build the customer base by providing job quotes to customers.
- Maintain good communications with customers.
- Work with the ED to Estimate and develop larger quotes.

**Equipment and Procedures Responsibilities**
- Develop and implement operational efficiencies for safe operating procedures.
- Ensure vehicles, trailers and equipment (mowers, trimmers, weed-whackers, chainsaw etc.) are correctly maintained, outfitted and safe.
- Report incidents appropriately.
- Coordinate correct billing and the reporting of hours with the Office Manager.

**Other Responsibilities**
- Manage and resolve on-site issues ( set customer expectations and resolve employee issues).

**Qualifications/ Skills Required**:The applicant should be an enthusiastic supporter of social enterprises and a “cause crusader” for support of mental health recovery. They will need:

- A clean drivers license and the ability to safely drive with an attached trailer is essential.
- Landscaping work experience; planting, sodding, weeding, hedge trimming.
- A positive attitude and friendly manner.
- Teach good work practices and how to use equipment safely.
- Flexibility to work extended hours occasionally.
- Coaching/teaching or counseling experience is useful.
- Good organizational skills and the ability to meet targets.
- The ability to take initiative and work independently.
- be a problem solver and practical individual.
- Occasional use of a personal vehicle may be needed required (mileage paid), and a cell phone is required.

A computer is provided and access to an i-Pad for planning and photographing jobs is provided. Knowledge of some software (MS Office, Google Suites, Adobe etc.) will be required.

It would be advantageous for the leader to have an awareness of plants/planting and weed control management.

**Certifications**:Certification in any area relating to teaching or mentoring and landscaping would be an advantage but not essential.

A good attitude to working hard and to work enthusiastically to help build employment opportunities for people with lived experience of mental illness is the most significant part of this role.
- Flexible hours and working days are negotiable.
- Salary : $50k+ for 12 months term, full-time,. (pro-rated on contract length and P/T) dependent on experience.

A background check will be required and good references will be needed.

Contract length: 9 months

**Salary**: $50,000.00-$52,000.00 per year

Expected hours: 24 - 40 per week
