KGS Group is currently looking to fill permanent and seasonal positions for **Wildlife Biologists or Wildlife Technicians** of all levels in our growing Ecology and Environmental Impact Assessment Department. KGS Group has offices in Mississauga, Thunder Bay, Winnipeg, Saskatoon, Regina, and Vancouver.

**The Role**:
**Your Key Responsibilities**:
- Lead and conduct a wide variety of terrestrial wildlife inventories and species at risk surveys in your region.
- Design and implement wildlife surveys for your region.
- Conduct pre-construction migratory bird nesting surveys following guidelines set for by Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) and provincial direction for your region.
- Establish no-disturbance buffers for sensitive species or habitats by understanding regulatory guidance by ECCC as well as provincial guidelines for your region.
- Lead and/or conduct night-time and daytime amphibian surveys following your region’s guidelines and standards.
- Lead and/or conduct various aerial surveys for ungulates, mammals, raptor nests, or waterfowl.
- Conduct environmental monitoring for a wide variety of construction projects.
- Lead and/or contribute to wildlife technical documentation, writing impact assessment statements, and regulatory submissions in your region.
- Develop and contribute to mitigation measures, monitoring, and mitigation planning.
- Complete technical review of deliverables completed by more junior personnel to support KGS Group IMS standards.
- Mentor more junior personnel in field techniques and technical writing.
- Collaborate with other Departments and KGS Group team members as required and contribute and support non-wildlife related projects.

- About You_
To fill the role, we’re looking for an applicant to bring forward a good mix of qualifications and previous experiences.
**Qualifications**:
- Graduate of post-secondary education related to wildlife, ecology, or biology. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience conducting wildlife inventories in your region, preferably in a consulting capacity.
- Strong knowledge of species life histories, terrestrial wildlife science, and wildlife ecology and habitat requirements for your region.
- Be able to identify avian species by sight, sound, behaviour, and habitat requirements.
- Be able to identify amphibian species by sight, sound, behaviour, and habitat requirements.
- Experience in data entry, quality assurance, and quality control for data sets, including the use of electronic field to office programs such as Survey 123, or equivalent software programs.
- Experience working independently and in a team. You must be a team player, know what you don’t know, and are willing to give 100% every day.
- Demonstrated strong technical writing and verbal communication skills.
- Experience contributing to and leading Environmental Impact Assessments in relation to terrestrial wildlife discipline.
- Willingness and experience working for extended periods up to 14 days in the field across Canada, in varied weather conditions.
- Valid class 5 driver’s license.
- Must be physically able to perform the duties of the position, including the ability to lift and maneuver over 30 kg and ability to hike/walk long distances.
**Experience with the following will be considered assets**:
- Qualified or registered with a professional organization such as P.Biol, or RPBio, or ability to obtain such designations.
- Demonstrated experience with writing discipline relevant sections of Environmental Impact Assessments in your region and beyond.
- Demonstrated experience with environmental permit submissions in your region.
- Experience with ATV, UTV, and Argo operations.
