**About Us**

At The Portal Youth Outreach Association, we provide a variety of programs that serve youth experiencing homelessness or exploitation. Some of the programs are: Supportive Living Homes, Supported Apartments, and
Youth Outreach Program. We are a vibrant team of professionals who work collaboratively within a network of community and government partners to achieve our vision; that the Annapolis Valley would be a place where all youth have a safe, supportive, and loving home.

Through our services, we journey with and support youth (16-24) to become interdependent and secure in the community, while providing for their basic needs of housing, nourishment, accompaniment and safety. We encourage youth to experience themselves within their communities, as well as be involved in a variety of activities to learn about themselves.

**About Our Opportunity**

The Supportive Living Program (SLP) provides congregate housing and support for youth in Kentville, Windsor and Middleton. A wrap around care team of staff will deliver various support at different levels of care. The

**Rotating Evening and Overnight Mentor**

**Evening Responsibilities**
- Facilitate recreation, community engagement and learning opportunities as directed by the core planning team and that reflect your unique skills, talents and hobbies.
- Facilitate life -skill learning throughMeal planning and food preparation in accordance with the Canada Food Guide and Safe Food Handling guidelines

Time management and day planning
House chores
Sleep Hygiene
- Facilitate reflective conversations about life choices and daily goals.
- Provide listening support and model emotional regulation.
- Respond calmly in accordance with policy and procedure to crisis such as medical emergencies, suicide attempts, self harm or violence.
- Encourage youth to adhere to their own goals, boundaries and the community expectations.
- Model healthy lifestyle choices, respectful communication and clear boundaries.
- Provide regular reports.
- Join weekly team and training meetings. These may not always fall within your scheduled shift but require attendance.

**Night Time Responsibilities**
- Monitor safety and security of the house and its members. This may mean monitoring security cameras in some homes.
- Manage crisis situations: respond calmly in accordance with policy and procedure to crisis such as medical emergencies, suicide attempts, self harm or violence.
- Accomplish household tasks at night without supervisionGeneral administrative tasks as needed

Cleaning as directed
- Check in with other night staff (in other houses) via video calls

**Kentville Only**

Position 1

Mon-Fri (37.5 hrs per week)

Rotating shift:
Evenings (3:30-11:30 pm) for 2 weeks

Over night (10:45 pm -6:45 am) for 2 weeks

Position 2

Weekend Sat/Sun (16hr. Per week)

Rotating shift:
Evenings (3:15 pm -11:15 pm) for 2 weeks

Over night (10:45 pm -6:45 am) for 2 weeks

**Windsor and Middleton**

Positions 3 & 4

Mon-Fri (28.75 hrs per week averaged over 2 weeks)

Rotating shift:
Evenings (8 pm-12 am) for 2 weeks

Over night (11:45 pm - 8 am) for 2 weeks

Position 5&6

Weekend Sat/Sun (16hrs per week)

Rotating shift:
Evenings (3:45 pm-12:00 am) for 2 weeks

Over night (11:45 pm - 8 am) for 2 weeks

**Pay Rate: 22.00/hr.**
