**Weekend Anchor/Multimedia Journalist**

**Role Overview**
We are looking for a passionate and experienced journalist with a great on-air presence.
You will work with a highly motivated and talented newsroom team to produce compelling content on our various platforms and be the main **Anchor for the Weekend**
**5pm Newscast**. A rare west coast opportunity to be part of a dynamic, independent newsroom and Vancouver Island’s most watched newscasts.

**Schedule**: This position is a 40 hours per week Wednesday-Sunday, primarily 9-5pm or

**Responsibilities**
- Excellent verbal communications skills with strong storytelling ability.
- Strong writing and editing skills. Ensures our content is original and relevant and meets journalistic standards.
- As a journalist you will cover a range of news, arts, culture, sports, and events.
- Feature reporting and content creation for multiple platforms including broadcast and digital.
- Positive attitude with a strong team player skill set.
- Engaged with current news and events locally and abroad.
- Interviewing, writing, producing, and reporting, of local news.
- Editing and shooting experience.
- Ability to provide relief mid-week News Anchor coverage when needed.
- Ability to generate story ideas and make effective editorial decisions to complete scripting, editing and production of the story in preparation for publishing or airing.
- Other related duties as assigned.
- This position reports to the News Director

**Qualifications**
- University degree, diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience in Journalism or related field.
- Minimum 3 years of related journalism experience, with proven on-air Anchoring skills and experience.
- Must have valid drivers’ license and clean driving record.

**Salary**: $55,499.04-$76,901.04 per year
