Kingston Marina in the heart of downtown Kingston has a last minute opening for a summer gas dock yard attendant with 30 to 40 hrs. per week. The marina is open 7 days a week till Thanksgiving so part-time availability on weekends after school starts would be an asset. Must be at least 16 years of age. Retired 'experience considered as well.

Do you enjoy working out doors? Do you have a passion for boating? We'd also like to include and consider the valuable maturity and experience of those in a retired position that wish to share their marine interest (part-time and/or full time considered).

We are looking to hire reliable, independent workers for the spring/summer/fall season. Hours are provided April/May through September/October. The schedule is flexible, and the work diverse. In house training and certifications are provided. The marina is open 7 days a week 8am to 6pm during core summer hours.

Work Description:
As a Marina Yard/Attendant, you may have the opportunity to work on some or all of the following activities:
Dock/yard and overall marina maintenance (ability to repair hardware/docks and hands on approach, a definite asset)

Maintain the physical appearance of all marina areas, including removing debris from the water and docks, ensuring garbage bins are emptied on a regular basis, and maintaining the cleanliness of the washroom’s facilities in accordance with a set maintenance schedule.

Operate and sell fuel at the Marina Fuel Dock.

Comply with all Technical Standards and Safety Authority regulations regarding the safe operation of a fuel station.

Ensure the accurate collection and processing of all revenue from Marina Fuel Dock and ice sales.

Assist boats in docking and casting off, and maintain good public relations with all Marina patrons, including fielding general inquiries.

Maintain a safe environment for guests, their boats, and staff. This includes conducting dock checks of all Marina areas, ensuring that only authorized boats are docked, enforcing pass regulations, and updating visitor logs.

Perform general cleaning and maintenance activities to a variety of port facilities.

Assist Metal Craft Boat Builders in the performance of their duties as needed.

Assist with vessel haul outs/launches, blocking, storage, mast removals at the boatyard when assigned.

Assist with special event set ups and monitor.

QUALIFICATIONS:
A minimum of a high school diploma or GED and a minimum of one year of prior work experience is required.

A solid interest in the marine industry an asset.

Must possess a valid driver's license.

Weekend, holiday and occasional after hours work may be required for this position.

Basic computer skills and ability to learn the fuel monitoring and point of sales systems.

Prior boating experience highly desirable.

Other desirable experiences include customer service, cash and credit card management, basic cleaning and maintenance skills and experience working at a marine fuel or land based fuel dispensing station and speaking French to the occasional transient boater.
