The IT Support Technician will be responsible to ensure all computer systems and other technological equipment are fully functional and in top operating performance in over 30 locations in three regions and will provide ongoing orientation and training to Pulford employees on technology used in operations.This position will setup and maintain computer equipment and related hardware and software, as well as troubleshooting and the resolution of identified technical problems for the organization. The IT Support Technician will be involved in the recommendation and implementation of technology solutions to improve operational efficiencies.What you will do:
- Maintain the hardware at and provide IT support in over 30 locations in three regions (access to company vehicle for out-of-town travel and mileage paid for travel within city limits both provided)
- Advise on relevant upgrades as required
- Assist computer users with the operation/repair of computer systems and other technological equipment
- Provide technical assistance to users by installing, configuring, testing, and upgrading computer software and hardware
- Perform tasks that revolve around detection and resolution of technical problems
- Act as standby technician who provides IT solutions as soon as a malfunction occurs, including possible after-hours support (evenings and weekends on-call)
- Maintain company networks and ensure smooth performance of computer systems
- Set up and configure new equipment for the organization
- Train users on systems by performing technical demonstrations and preparing reference materials
- Perform necessary upgrades of systems and maintain hardware and software inventory
- Collect and process outdated equipment for recycling or disposal
- Collaborate with external IT specialists to develop and implement IT strategies
- Prepare and present reports to update management on IT support operations
- May be required to instruct new users on software or hardware, especially when major upgrades are made
- Attend educational programs, workshops, and seminars to stay abreast with developments in the IT industry
- Other duties as assigned
- What you will bring:
- Post secondary education in Information Technology, Computer Science, Microsoft or relevant field
- 2-5 years directly related experience
- Comprehensive and current knowledge of IT systems, networks, mobile devices and other technical products and software
- Demonstrated ability to diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft products, including Windows, Office 365, etc.
- Ability to provide basic troubleshooting on various software (e.g. Quickbooks, ADP Payroll, databases)
- Experience with technical aspects of website maintenance and social media technology
- Communication Skills: able to use clear language and expression to provide technical support to low-tech users; demonstrated ability to provide clear instructions (verbally and in written materials)
- Problem-solving Skills: well versed in IT troubleshooting assessment; demonstrated commitment to customer (user) support and resolution
- Interpersonal Skills: friendly and sincere desire to provide assistance; ability to liaise with various tech professionals to develop and implement IT support strategies
- Must have a valid Class 5F driver’s license.
- Working Conditions:
- Occasional travel outside the city may be required.
- Primarily indoor work environment.
