The Peer Worker - OPOC Survey Program will conduct Ontario Perception of Care Surveys with various clients of
Fred Victor’s Health Services programs. Utilizing their lived experience of accessing relevant programs & services, as
well as the skills and knowledge attained from graduating in a relevant community peer program, the Peer Worker
will make connections that garner meaningful responses for the OPOC Survey.

**What You Will Do**:

- Develop an understanding of the project and rationale for the Ontario Perception of Care Survey
- Foster relationships with various teams - including Health Services and Health Promotion teams, to gain an

understanding of the clients involved in the survey
- Utilize lived experience to connect with clients and illicit honest responses to questions
- Follow a script and track responses using a set questionnaire with mostly closed ended questions for over

the phone and in-person survey interviews
- Conduct cold calls to program clients, and leave detailed voice messages on unanswered phone calls
- Meet with clients face to face, and conduct in-person interviews as needed
- Input quantitative and qualitative data into relevant program/tracking template
- Respond to clients that might feel angry, disappointed or frustrated with service
- Develop personalized self-introductions and biographies to put respondent at ease

**What You Bring to the Team**:

- Personal experience and use of community health and/or employment services
- Lived experience of homelessness, mental health, addictions, indigenous services, newcomer services, or social

assistance is considered an asset
- Graduation from relevant peer training program - including Social Service Training & Employment Program - is

considered an asset

**What Sets You Apart**:

- Training in Crisis Prevention or Conflict Resolution
- Proficient in outreach initiatives, engaging potential clients through phone communication in a compassionate

and socially responsible manner.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, demonstrated for in-person and over the phone environment
- Some developed knowledge of MS Office Suite is considered an asset
- Ability to use de-escalation skills and respond to clients that might feel angry about certain aspects of the service
- Health & Safety training, as well as certification in CPR/First-Aid is considered an asset
- Strong understanding of relevance of lived experience and peer work to encourage service user input
- Ability to empathize and willingness to work with low-income, homeless and otherwise marginalized people
- Ability to instill best practices and address issues from an anti-harassment and anti-discrimination perspective
- Ability to be flexible and open to working with participant input
- Strong interpersonal skills to foster positive relations with diverse community members and co-workers
- Ability to maintain appropriate boundaries and set limits with community members
- Understanding of and commitment to working within a Harm Reduction Model
- Well-developed interpersonal, conflict resolution, crisis management and sound judgement skills

**Compensation and Benefits**
- For the Peer Worker - OPOC Survey Program position, Fred Victor offers a wage of $18.01 per hour
