**Role Responsibilities**:
The Information Technology and Operations Branch provides strategic operational management and support for Alberta Health’s information technology. Reporting to the Executive Director of the Information Technology and Operations Branch, the Director, **Application Maintenance and Business Support** has the overall accountability for providing leadership and direction in the provision of effective technology and information services to support key areas of the Division, Ministry and other partner organizations within the government and health system.

The Director will also maintain day-to-day relationships with clients both internal and external to the department and will work to understand their business objectives which guide the information and communication technology changes in support of the Ministry's business objectives. This involves developing and implementing management strategies, best practices and information systems to support business needs and decision-making processes. The position must demonstrate strong change management practices to ensure new solutions and enhancements are implemented with full engagement and support of all business stakeholders and align to the department's information management and information technology standards.

Utilizing your strong project management skills, analytical skills, vendor management skills and proven leadership abilities to achieve results will ensure your success in this role. Being a change champion and developing strategies to move projects forward are also key success factors. The ability to translate highly technical information so that it is easily understood by non-technical stakeholders will ensure you build effective relationships.

**Qualifications**:
**University graduation** in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Commerce or Business Administration, plus a minimum of seven **(7) years **of progressively responsible management experience in an information technology environment is required.

**Equivalency**:
Related experience or education may be considered as an equivalency on a one for one basis.

**Required experience**:

- Experience in managing and implementing projects.
- Broad understanding of government objectives, goals and strategies as well as general knowledge of health system and health reform initiatives
- Strong understanding of Tri-lateral agreement and other allied provider association arrangements.
- Knowledge of outsourcing vendor contracts and agreements with Ministry
- Experience leading a team/supervising.
