**Kinsol Timber Systems is a leader in the design and construction of timber structures, especially within the Mass Timber industry. **We are seeking to grow our team by adding iron workers/steel erectors in support of the execution of our work, both here on the Island and elsewhere.

As the most experienced members of a team, Journeyman/Journeywoman Iron Worker are expected to lead tasks for groups of Apprentices and Labourers, and to support the Supervisor in the delegation and leadership of our work. As part of a larger group, the Iron Worker/Steel Erector is expected to collaborate with all team members by demonstrating a positive outlook, a willingness to listen, and a can-do attitude.

Specific Responsibilities include the following:

- Installation of structural steel and wood members
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction drawings to determine layout and installation procedures
- Install and secure structural steel/wood beams, columns, and other metal components to form the framework of buildings, bridges, and other structures
- Erect steel/wood panels or steel girders and columns to form floors or walls of structures
- Install wood decking and cladding systems for roofs or walls
- Align and position steel/wood components using hoists, cranes, or other lifting equipment
- Fasten metal/wood components together to form structural frameworks
- Strong mechanical knowledge and understanding of construction principles
- Proficient in techniques for joining metal components
- Experience operating forklifts or other heavy machinery for material handling
- Proficiency in using power tools such as drills, saws, grinders, etc.
- Ability to assemble and disassemble metal/wood components accurately
- Knowledge of using measuring instruments for precision work
- Offload, sort and prepare structural steel/wood for erection
- Experience with commercial projects preferred
- Proficient in rigging and safe work procedures
