As a Child Protection Worker on the _Youth Family Response Team_, you'll join a passionate group of professionals working on child protection intake assessments with youth aged 12-15. This brand-new team in South Fraser focuses on preventative work, supporting parents and youth during the critical early teen years. With five child protection workers, two Child Youth and Family Support Workers, a social work assistant, and a dedicated Team Leader, we collaborate closely with a wide range of professionals, including mental health and community organizations, to improve the wellbeing of non-Indigenous youth and families. The_ _Integrated Youth Team_ is made up of committed professionals that work as a unit to complete child protection intake assessments, as well as and support youth, aged 16 - 18, and their parents, by delivering family service and guardianship services. Comprised of eight child protection workers, one social work assistant and a team leader, all who are devoted to improve outcomes for youth and families.
**The Role**
As a Child Protection Worker, you'll conduct child protection assessments and develop safety plans in collaboration with families and community agencies, using the latest best practices. Your work directly impacts local families, providing vital support and protection for children and youth. Education and Experience Requirements
Applicants may be considered who meet the preferred **OR **expanded credentials and experience requirements
**1. Preferred Credentials**:
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Social Work or in Child & Youth Care **OR** Master's Degree in Educational Counselling Psychology/Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology with completion of a practicum in family and child welfare **OR**:
- In-service Ministry of Children and Family Development employees who have a regular SPO 24-30 base position that requires delegation under the Child, Family and Community Services Act (CFCSA) **OR**:
- **NOTE**:If this education was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services (ICES). You must provide a comprehensive report and the MCFD supplemental report by the closing date of this posting to be considered.
**2. Expanded Credentials**:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a Human Services field **OR** Bachelor’s Degree with a Major/Honors in a Human Services field **OR** Master’s level graduate Certificate/Diploma in a Human Services field **AFTER **the completion of an unrelated Bachelor’s Degree.
- **PLUS,** a minimum of one year of related OR job-specific work experience.
- Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
- **NOTE**: If this education was obtained outside of Canada, you need to confirm it has been assessed for equivalency through the International Credential Evaluation Services (ICES). You must provide a basic report by the closing date of this posting to be considered.
**Human Services fields include**: Psychology, Sociology, Criminology, Anthropology, Early Childhood Education, Indigenous Studies, Education, Theology or Nursing.
Preference will be given to applicants with the following:
- Applicants with preferred education credentials **AND/OR** In-service MCFD employees who hold a regular SPO24-30 base position that requires delegation under the Child, Family and Community Service Act (CFCSA).
- Currently hold C3 delegation (or higher) under the Child, Family and Community Services Act (CFCSA).
Preference may be given to applicants with the following:
- Three or more years experience working directly with youth aged 12-18 years in a social service sector position and providing support/guidance to families and/or caregiver.
- Applicants who self-identify as Indigenous with the required combination of education and experience.
