The Cranbrook Food Bank Society’s mission is to steward the collection and free distribution of donated, rescued and purchased food, and give it to those in need. We share resources and work collaboratively with partners across the hunger relief network.

As the Volunteer Coordinator, you have a passion for being part of an organization that supports those in need in the community. You have a natural ability to lead and organize volunteers in a fast-paced changing environment. You do this through strong communication skills and fostering excellent working relationships with coworkers, volunteers, and other organizations.

With over 80 active volunteers, this is a challenging and rewarding opportunity for an individual to make a significant difference in our organization and the community we serve.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Responsible for the volunteer intake process, including recruitment, screening, orientation, and training.
- Performs scheduling of volunteers for all areas of the Food Bank, ensuring adequate volunteer support for all roles and special events.
- Maintain a working knowledge of all volunteer roles and responsibilities including continued development and administration of a volunteer handbook.
- Assist in planning volunteer recognition events and activities.
- Works closely with the Operations Manager in support of the Operations requirements.
- Supports the Food Bank Health and Safety Program by ensuring compliance of all volunteers.
- Other duties as assigned.

**Qualifications**
- Technical diploma preferred or equivalent combination of experience and education accepted.
- Food industry, Social Services, non-profit and/or experience leading volunteers would be an asset.
- Demonstrated strong organizational, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written
- Strong computer literacy.
- Criminal record check required
- Physical environment: Office and warehouse. Active walking. Some lifting will be required and able to lift to 30lbs.
- Ability to work flexible hours.
- FoodSafe certification would be an asset.

Contract length: 12 months

Pay: $20.00-$22.00 per hour
