**Opportunity**

The Peer Support Coordinator utilizes a trauma informed and youth and family centered approach to work as part of an interdisciplinary team and is responsible for the oversight and coordination of Foundry Surrey centre’s Youth and Family Peer Support Programs. This position will collaborate closely with the Foundry Surrey manager to support implementation of programs, while coordinating and leading daily program activities and services.

**Responsibilities**
- Work closely with the Foundry Manager to coordinate site schedules, programming and provide oversight and supervision support to the Foundry team;
- Coordinate and lead the day-to-day youth and family peer support activities;
- Provide day-to-day supervision, coaching & mentorship for Youth and Family Peer Support Workers, including performance evaluation and training;
- Nurture a positive team environment of continuous learning, effective communication and service excellence;
- In collaboration with the Foundry Surrey Manager, recruit, hire and onboard new staff;
- Participate in knowledge exchange and communities of practice within Foundry network;
- Engage in ongoing evaluation and quality improvement initiatives related to youth and family peer support service delivery to ensure effective family and client centered practice;
- Engage with youth and family populations to continuously engage, evaluate and implement programming that meets the changing needs identified in community;
- Seek out funding opportunities to meet the identified needs of community;
- Co-chair youth and family leadership tables;
- Ensure best practices, Foundry’s peer support model, training and standards are implemented and followed;
- Take financial responsibility and accountability for the peer support program budget;
- In collaboration with the Manager, ensure appropriate client records are maintained by Peer Support Workers in accordance with established standards;
- Respond to and provides support to participants and team members during critical incidents and high-risk situations;
- Perform administrative functions, including writing reports, producing documents and presentations, leading or supporting policy development and ensuring adherence to policies;
- Maintain an in-depth knowledge of available resources in the community;
- Establish and maintain partnerships and positive working relationships with all Foundry stakeholders and relevant community agencies and resources; and
- Represents Foundry in the community and delivers public presentations.

**Qualifications**
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse youth & family populations and ability to recognize and respond appropriately to the needs of youth and young adults;
- A level of education, training and/or combination of experience equivalent to a degree in Social Sciences, Health Sciences, Public Health or a related field;
- Five years of relevant employment experience in youth and family support including leadership and supervisory experience and knowledge and skills related to peer support practice and principles
- Experience with interdisciplinary care teams, primary care an asset;
- Genuine commitment to service integration and improving service experiences for youth and families;
- Experience with developing and implementing projects, design and delivery of peer support programs a significant asset; and
- Satisfactory criminal record check and clear vulnerable sector search
- Strong communication, decision-making and organizational skills;
- Demonstrates understanding of trauma informed practices
- Cultural agility, safety and humility skills and expertise:;
- Commitment to learning and unlearning about colonization and its impact on creating and sustaining health inequities;
- Understanding and ability to work collaboratively with others utilizing a multicultural lens
- Knowledge of best practices related to community health, including but not limited to peer support, recovery, harm reduction, stepped care, and youth and family centered care;
- Staff mentoring, skill development and the ability to lead a positive working environment;
- Relationship and team building skills with a wide variety of stakeholders;
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of an interprofessional team, using cooperative approaches to problem solving.
