**Position Summary**:
The Airfield Maintenance Manager, Training Groundside Maintenance will lead, mentor and coach a team of Airfield Maintenance Specialists to ensure all surfaces at Toronto Pearson are continually maintained in a safe and efficient manner for our customers. This is done through the delivery of strong work plans including planned and demand maintenance. To provide forward thinking and continual improvement related to training & maintenance techniques.
**Key Accountabilities**:
- Lead, develop, implement and monitor the service delivery of the training program, snow plan and tactics for all Airfield, Apron and Groundside Maintenance and to support irregular operations (IRROPS)
- Establish and maintain working relationships with both internal and external partners to make decisions and identify any shortfalls in service provisions and identify potential areas for improvement
- Identifying requirements (staff, equipment, and material) to ensure the Airfield Operations Training Program can deliver on the Strategic Plan and meet performance goals
- Identify and establish scopes of work, prepare tender packages, evaluate bid submissions, select proponents and day-to-day management of final contracts to meet the department needs
- Develop a relationship with Contractors to leverage opportunities for continuous improvement
- Lead people by providing coaching, guidance and development by providing relevant feedback for personal and career growth
- Ensuring assigned resources are available to support the day-of operation for Airfield Operations Maintenance and training program is built to support these activities.
**Qualifications**:
- Post-secondary degree or diploma or a combination of education and relevant experience
- 3+ years of people management or leadership experience; building impactful, highly skilled and motivated teams
- 3 + years of relevant administrative, marketing, customer service, training, and/or airport operations experience is preferred
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in an airport environment or similar with demonstrated unionized experience in serving a large and complex customer base preferred
- 3+ years of relevant experience working with an adult learning program
- Demonstrated experience working in a customer centric environment
- Valid Ontario G Driver’s License (or provincial equivalent)
- Able to obtain a D/A AVOP (Airside drivers license) within 30 days of appointment to the position
- Able to obtain and retain Transportation Security Clearance at the designated level for the position

- Strong understanding of airline, aircraft, and ground handling procedures as they relate to Aviation Services
- Ability to anticipate and support the “day of” operational team as required, ensuring Toronto Pearson has a successful day
- Strong relationship management skills with internal and external partners
- Demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate cross functionally in a unionized environment, as well as with external partners to achieve results
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively reach a broad audience of internal and external customers, guests and other key partners
- Strong decision-making skills and demonstrates a sense of urgency to deliver operational excellence
- Knowledge of all GTAA policies included but not limited to: Security, SeMS, SMS, Aviation Safety, IMS practices, environmental policies, Workplace Health & Safety, and all other governances through Nav Canada and Transport Canada
- Familiarization with aviation documentation such as TP312, NOTAM Manual, Airport Operations Manual and Airside Activity Program
