**Our Team**:
Grand River Transit (GRT) provides transit service to the three cities, and four townships in the Regional Municipality of Waterloo. We operate more than 50 routes and cover more than 20 million kilometers every year. Our fleet consists of more than 300 vehicles, including conventional and MobilityPLUS buses and ION light rail trains. We have more than 2,500 stops across the region, and more than 560 shelters.

**The Opportunity**:
Reporting to the Project Manager, Transit Security & Risk Management this opportunity would be suited to analytical problem-solver who is well versed in security initiatives and procedures. In this role you will report on investigations arising from services provided, specific to security, police liaison, labour, and workplace incidents. You will administer the fare enforcement program, including training, planning, and quality assurance. You will also perform operational security functions, including technical security support. You will have the opportunity to liaise with contracted security provider to ensure quality control.

You will provide security awareness and fare enforcement training for transit operators and contracted fare enforcement and security staff.

You will develop and administer the fare enforcement program, including procedures, processes, and resources used by contracted fare enforcement and security staff, and transit operators. You will analyze data and recommend resourcing, strategies, and locations to reduce and mitigate fare evasion.

You will prepare reports on fare enforcement activities relating to inspections, warnings, charges, and banned customers.

You will use your skills and experience to respond to security incidents and coordinate response with contracted security, other management staff, Police, and enforcement agencies. Responds to alarms to monitor contracted security response for quality assurance purposes.

You will enforce the Region’s Code of Use By-law and issues provincial offence notices, as required. You will prepare supporting documents and evidence, attend Court, as required and liaise with prosecutors and court administration to ensure information requirements are met.

You will review and process requests for video images from regional facilities, terminals/stations, and on transit. You will prepare video images for distribution to enforcement agencies, per policy.

You will prepare operational and information and risk reports for staff and management, including regular security bulletins and written communications. Collects and maintains “violence against employee” and “security incident” statistical reports as required for Canadian Urban Transportation Association, transit, and other regional facilities and operating groups.

You will consult with contractors, staff, and community partners to identify security-related concerns, solicit cooperation, and deliver solutions. You will identify and provide input into operational initiatives to improve services and maximize efficiencies.

You will conduct post-incident reviews and debriefings with management, assess and recommend policy changes for improved incident responses. You will provide transit management and corporate security briefings of security activities, ensuring confidentiality.

You will work with contracted security guard supervisor, transit security staff, and corporate security staff to develop, update, and maintain security standard operating procedures.

You will develop, implement, and maintain procedures and practices for employees, public and vendor building access; bus access and driver management system; and street fare collection. Revises same, as required. You will provide input for new and ongoing policies, procedures, and guidelines.

You will assist with Crime Prevention through Environmental Design (CPTED) audits and security audits at regional facilities.

You will support maintenance, improvement, and monitoring of security technology, as required.
