**Duties**:
Basic Function of the Position: The position is assigned to Internal Revenue Service
- Criminal Investigation (IRS-CI) International Field Operations and serves as an Investigative Assistant assigned to the Ottawa, Canada post, which area of responsibility (AOR) covers Canada, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. The IA is responsible for independently managing and maintaining investigative duties for the AOR. The IA will organize, conduct, and liaise with the US Law Enforcement Working Group, US Embassy personnel, as well as foreign law enforcement counterparts to support and facilitate complex financial investigations, provide technical and administrative support to IRS-CI Field Offices. The IA will be responsible for conducting research, securing evidence and analyze information related to criminal investigations as well as IRS-CI compliance programs. The IA will also be responsible for screening and analyzing information or explanations relating to on-going investigations. The IA will or will have a large portfolio in providing investigative, analytical, budget, and administrative support to the IRS-CI Attaché in Ottawa, Canada. The IA will perform complex research, analysis and reporting on tax, money laundering, cyber/cryptocurrency and other financial crimes, activities, regulations, laws, and economic developments prevailing in Canada, as well as the rest of the area of responsibility (AOR), which includes the Nordic countries of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden.

**Qualifications and Evaluations**:

- Requirements:
EXPERIENCE: A minimum of five years of work experience as investigative assistant, aide or equivalent including management support and/or protocol responsibilities in a law enforcement, financial investigative or tax agency is required.
- Education Requirements:
Minimum of two years of post-secondary education is required.
- Evaluations:
LANGUAGE: Level IV (Fluent) of English Speaking/Reading/Writing required. This may be tested.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Valid driver’s license is required. Must have excellent organizational and time management skills. Must have advanced computer skills. Must possess with strong analytical skills. Must be proficient in the use of personal computers, financial and investigative analysis, word processing software such as Microsoft Office programs/software. Must have excellent written and oral skills with the ability to handle difficult communication due to possible language constraints and barriers due to culture, customs, and protocol issues. Must be a U.S. citizen to access IRS databases and able to obtain a Top-Secret Security Clearance.
