**The Opportunity**
We are looking for a high energy and motivated Early Childhood Educator Assistant to join our 0-6 coordinator team. This position will provide support with the day-to-day operations of the LEC programs and will carry out responsibilities in a wide variety of areas.

Between 17 - 22 Hours per week and may include weekend work
SALARY RANGE: CSSEA Wage Grid 6, Step 2 - $23.58
BENEFITS: Not Eligible
VACATION: As per ESS policies
START DATE: ASAP

**Key Duties and Responsibilities**
- Assists senior staff in monitoring children in indoor and outdoor activities and during rest periods.
- Assists in planning, preparing and carrying out developmentally appropriate programs and activities.
- Under close supervision, conducts activities with children on an individual and group basis to promote the development of physical, cognitive, emotional and social skills.
- Attends to children’s physical needs, which may include diapering, toileting, eating and sleeping.
- Maintains records, reports problems or concerns to senior staff.
- Keeps program facilities and equipment safe and clean, reporting any repairs and concerns to senior staff.
- Perform other related duties as required.

**B. Qualifications**:

- 1. Education and Knowledge_
- Grade 12, plus enrolment in Early Childhood Education Certificate program or completing work experience required for licensing.
- 2. Training and Experience_
- One (1) year equivalent of recent related education, training, and experience
- Valid First Aid and CPR
- 3. Skills and Abilities_
- Ability to be flexible, resourceful and possess good time management skills.
- Ability to perform tasks involving physical activity, including lifting, and bending.
- Demonstrated knowledge of relevant Acts, pertinent regulations, policy, procedures and other statutory and certification requirements (such as the Mental Health Act; Adult Guardianship Act;; Child, Family and Community Service Act; and Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act);
- Effective listening and consensus building skills that promote communication and a cooperative approach to problem solving and decision making;
- Ability to work effectively with others in a multicultural environment, independently and as part of a team, including understanding the frameworks of other disciplines;
- Ability to maintain professional integrity, boundaries, and confidentiality;
- Ability to make effective referrals in a collaborative manner, reflecting in-depth knowledge of community resources and strong collaborative skills in working with other community partners; and
- Knowledge of systemic issues and risk factors facing underrepresented groups including LGBTQ2S+ and Indigenous youth and young adults;
- Knowledge and respect of the diversity of the BC population;

- Must possess a valid BC class 5 Driver’s license, have a reliable vehicle, business insurance and drivers abstract review. (mileage paid for work use)
