The March Break Day Camp Counsellor will be responsible for ensuring a fun, safe and positive experience for campers ages 6-12 years by delivering high quality mission-based programs.
Salary and Work Schedule
- Rate of pay $15.97 - $16.55/hour.

- March Break (March 11-15, 2024); shifts vary - 8:00am-5:00pm

**Location**: YMCA of Oakville, 410 Rebecca Street, Oakville

**Responsibilities**:

- Acts as a positive role model for children, youth and fellow staff.
- Provides direct supervision to a group of children daily.
- Plans and delivers fun, age-appropriate programming and activities.
- Builds rapport and manages relationships with camp participants to ensure an emotionally and physically safe environment for children and youth.
- Ensures the delivery of high quality camp programs while ensuring safety.
- Fully and enthusiastically participates in all camp activities, including all programs and special events.
- Recognizes the uniqueness and interests of all children and youth and assists them to successfully achieve their goals at camp.
- Models appropriate behavior in all interactions with co-workers, other YMCA staff and the public, ensuring behavior aligns with YMCA core values at all times.
- Accesses program resources and seeks support from Supervisor to ensure the delivery of a wide range of age appropriate programs for children and youth.
- Ensures all communication with co-workers, families, partners, other YMCA staff and the public is professional and courteous at all times.
- Ensures family inquiries and concerns are shared with Camp Supervisor to ensure prompt, professional follow up.
- Handles sensitive and confidential situations with professionalism.
- Maintainins accurate attendance records.

**Requirements**:

- Experience in planning and leading programs for children and youth.
- Applicants must be 15 years of age or older.
- Applicants aged 18 years or older must provide a Police check with vulnerable sector screening conducted within the last 12 months.
- Possession of Emergency First Aid and CPR ‘C’ certification is required before the first day of camp.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Effective conflict resolution skills.
- Strong teamwork and leadership skills.
- Post-secondary education in a related field is an asset.
- Experience working within a summer day camp or overnight day camp program is an asset.
