The Foreign Direct Investment and Export Analysis Unit advances economic growth by providing research, analysis and policy reviews to identify and capitalize on emerging markets, sectors, and other industry trends and tech innovations on a global scale. The work of the Unit enables Manitoba to maintain a competitive edge, and supports advancement of foreign direct investment attraction, development of industry clusters, and growing Manitoba’s export profile. The Unit actively works within government, with economic development and industry partners, other government partners, and foreign investment agencies, to research and leverage market intelligence at home, nationally and abroad to drive a proactive and strategic approach to foreign direct investment and export focused activities in Manitoba. This Unit works alongside and collaboratively with the Division's Business Navigation Unit and the Trade and Export Development Unit. These are integrated work functions and supports.

Conditions of Employment:

- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
- Must be able to travel nationally or internationally via motorized vehicle, airplane and/or train
- Must be able to work outside regular office hours, as required.

Qualifications:
Essential:

- Post-secondary education in Social Sciences, International relations, Public Administration, Business, Economics, or another relevant discipline, preferably at a graduate level. An equivalent combination of education, training and relevant experience may be considered.
- Experience supervising team members, providing coaching and ensuring quality of work through feedback.
- Experience researching, designing, implementing and evaluating complex policies and programs.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders.
- Political acumen demonstrated through experience providing strategic advice to senior leaders on complex topics and sensitive issues.
- Excellent written communication skills with the ability to express complex concepts, data and ideas in a clear, concise and organized manner for a variety of audiences.
- Excellent verbal communication skills with experience presenting to senior leaders for the purpose of decision-making and managing internal and external stakeholder relationships.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to priorize workloads and meeting deadlines.

Desired:

- Demonstrated ability to identify foreign direct investment or trade opportunities is considered an asset.
- Experience working with data visualization tools.
- Understanding of economic reconciliation, concepts and principles.

**Duties**:
The Manager, Foreign Direct Investment & Export Analysis Unit leads a team of policy analysts tasked with providing evidence-based analytic support and advice on a range of complex issues related to foreign direct investment attraction and export development. The position requires a forward-thinking dynamic leader, who is curious, innovative, practical and fosters strong collaboration to support the work of both branches within the Division.
