We are hiring for an Building Blocks Family Support Worker to provide support to parents of children aged birth to 5 in their home and in the community. The program focuses on attachment, parenting skills, health, and safety. The support worker provides developmental screeners and support to parents in the form of information and modelling to families regarding development, play activities, and community resources. The program can help support leisure opportunities and food security in the form of recreation passes, grocery gift cards, bus passes, and a monthly good food box (quantity of this support depends on funding). The support worker works as part of a multi-disciplinary team and may make referrals to other services and early intervention therapies if needed. Program is funded through MCFD.

We are looking for an Building Blocks Family Support Worker to join our multi-disciplinary team to work with children birth - 5 years of age. The Building Blocks Family Support Worker would use family-centered, culturally sensitive, and trauma-informed approaches to provide assessment, intervention, consultation and monitoring.

The position is permanent part-time position.

**Wage**: $22.00-$28.00

**Qualifications**:

- Diploma in social work, child and youth care or equivalent degree from a recognized College or University
- Three to five years of experience working in inclusive childcare.
- Current CCLR approved first aide course
- Knowledge of community resources and childcare services
- Preferred experience working with the Aboriginal Supported Child Development or Supported Child Development program
- Demonstrated ability to use a cultural safety framework

**Responsibilities**:
**Deliver family-specific services including**:

- Participate as a multi-disciplinary team using a family-centered model of service delivery.
- Meet and consult with families regularly to assess their needs and establish an effective service plan with the family.
- Share knowledge of community resources to meet the clients’ needs.
- Write effective service plans with measurable goals and objectives with client and team.
- Provide service coordination for families. Agreed upon consultation at service coordinator review meetings, held quarterly. Coordination including being the family’s main contact, facilitating service plan meetings and confirming service plans are complete and up to date.
- Client charting, documentation, and statistical information regarding clients for all report needs by the Centre and funding agencies.
- Be able to manage and organize workload and manage time, clients, prep, documentation, meetings, consultations, etc.
- Perform and be able to evaluate developmental screeners.
- Involvement in monthly Good Food Box program; order for clients, sort and deliver.
- Facilitate Building Blocks Family Play Drop-In Group and perform duties related to facilitation of a group with children and families. Group is located at The Cornerstone.
- Continuing competence will be demonstrated through ongoing professional development to assist members to maintain professional knowledge, abilities, and skills.
- Recognize own limitations and consult, refer or delegate when needed. Consult with manager when needed regarding program and client progress.
- Perform other duties and tasks as may be requested.

**Additional Requirements**:

- Current Class 5 Driver’s License, safe driving record and personal vehicle for work use, preferred
- Available Monday to Friday, and be able to work flexible hours as needed
- A criminal record check clearance letter
