Purpose and General Description:_**

NCC is looking for a passionate person to join the **Gaspé **stewardship team as an **Awareness agent intern in Gaspésie**. Working closely with NCC’s Project Coordinator, this internship position will help the stewardship team conduct fieldwork in **Gaspé,** process field data, and prepare reports. There are also opportunities to work closely with partner organizations, local stewards, and volunteers. This position is intended to provide an inspiring, learning-focused environment for a junior professional.

Duties and Responsibilities:_**
- Plan and carry out awareness-raising activities for users of NCC properties, including the Malbaie River Nature Reserve;
- Help the Gaspé team manage summer traffic on NCC properties with a positive approach, and install effective signage at the sites;
- Participate in the monitoring of Atlantic salmon returning to the Malbaie River and other species of precarious status;
- Support the Gaspé team in carrying out certain stewardship activities such as monitoring protected properties and their ecological follow-up (e.g.: monitoring habitats, species at risk, threats, etc.);

Required Skills and Attributes:_**

This posting is targeted to individuals possessing the following skills and traits:

- Enthusiastic about conserving nature;
- Adaptable/ flexible with day-to-day plans;
- Comfortable riding on a boat in rough weather (wind, waves, rain);
- Comfortable hiking/working in remote wilderness locations without trails (dense forest with black flies / ticks etc.) for extended periods in various weather;
- Enjoys working as part of a team, and has a sense of humour, compassionate, good-natured, positive attitude;
- Clear, professional and thoughtful communicator to landowners, public, colleagues;
- Reliable, punctual, and responsible;
- Willingness to learn and follow protocols;
- Self-motivated to work independently;
- Excellent organizational skills;
- Proficient with data management and spreadsheet software;
- Physical work will be required (e.g., strenuous hiking, carrying a heavy backpack, etc.);
- Valid class “5” driver’s license, ability to rent a vehicle and comfort
- Standard First Aid - Level C CPR or Remote First Aid certification

Terms of Employment:_**
- Subject to funding, this is a 10 week position from June 17, 2024, until August 23, 2024;
- Compensation: $20.00/hour;
- Working hours from Wednesday to Sunday, as well as public holidays. Flexible vacation resumption according to field requirements;
- Travel will be required for field assignments. Travel expenses will be reimbursed.
- Positions will include “office work” that will be completed in a work from home setting.
