**Job Summary**:
To work in partnership with FRAFCA ECD Programs to identify and provide Early Childhood Development outreach services to Aboriginal families with children aged 0-6 in the Circle 5 area. ECD programs and services are designed to ensure children get the best possible start in life. The work of Senior Early Childhood Development Outreach Worker will contribute towards the following long-term outcomes:
1. Mothers are healthy and give birth to healthy infants who remain healthy.

2. Children experience healthy early childhood development, including optimal early learning and care.

3. Parents are empowered and supported to nurture and care for their children.

4. Communities support the development of all children and families.

Team work, listening, understanding and responding, fostering trust, and developing others are key competencies of this position.

**Job Duties/Responsibilities**:

- Work in conjunction with the ECD Programs to identify families that require ECD support and follow through with outreach to support families in various capacities.
- Respond to parents questions about child development.
- Model positive parenting. **Provide outreach, home visits and family support to vulnerable and high risk families with children aged 0-6.**:

- Refer families/clients to other agencies/services when necessary.
- Transport clients to services and support programs when required. **Work with clients to set short and long term goals to better meet their needs.**:

- Use developmental and screening tools to help parents learn about their child’s development in partnership with FRAFCA’s AIDP Consultants.
- Strengthen and support families in their role as decision makers on behalf of their children and themselves.
- Support families to communicate with various agencies as requested.
- Ensure client files are maintained and updated on a weekly basis, review files monthly.
- Provide written monthly reports to the ECD Program Manager. **Attend and participate in all meetings as requested by the ECD Program Manager.**:

- Attend staff in-service workshops/external training opportunities as directed by the ECD Program Manager.

**Skills/Abilities**:

- Knowledge of First Nations culture, traditions, and socio-economic barriers.
- Experience working with Aboriginal clients.
- Ability to work independently as well as effectively in a team environment. **Excellent interpersonal communication, analytical and observational skills**:

- Basic computer skills (including Microsoft Office).
- Ability to multi-task.
- Experience working with the demands of a diverse team environment and cross-cultural setting.
- Knowledge of Aboriginal communities, organizations and service providers within the Circle 5 area (Surrey/Delta/White Rock Region).

**Requirements/Qualifications**:

- Minimum requirement is a Diploma in a related field (for example: ECD, CYC, Social Services, etc.), one year experience in family support and 2 years’ experience working in an Early Childhood program or Non-Profit Agency OR an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Must have (or be willing to obtain within 90 days) a valid First Aid Certificate.
- Must have a class 5 driver’s license, own reliable transportation and a clear driver’s abstract.
- Experiential assets include:

- Post Basic ECE Certificates (for example: Special Needs and Infant Toddler)
- A degree in a human services or a related field.
- A Criminal Record Check and review is a requirement of all employees of FRAFCA.
