**Function & Overview**

Under the supervision of the Vice President - Academic (VPA), the Unit Manager - Skilled Trades shares the responsibility of designing, organizing, reviewing, and maintaining all aspects of the planning, delivery, and quality assurance of Skilled Trades programming and related services for Six Nations Polytechnic (SNP). The Unit Manager - Skilled Trades is required to perform all duties consistent with the governance values and operating policies of Six Nations Polytechnic (SNP) while fostering positive relations with staff, students, stakeholders, and the community; contributing to a culturally supportive teaching, learning and work environment consistent with Hodinǫshǫ:nih/Rotinonhson:ni values of Ga’nigohi:yo:/Kanikoriio (Respect and the Good Mind).

**Duties**

The duties of the Unit Manager - Skilled Trades include, without limitation:
**Program Planning, Delivery & Quality Assurance**
- Producing the annual Program Plan, detailing all Skilled Trades course offerings, and providing enrolment feasibility assessments (showing enrolment maxima and mínima);
- Facilitating curriculum revisions and the implementation of new programs and courses, as identified and approved by the Academic Governance Table;
- Liaising with the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development regarding Apprenticeship requirements and seat purchases;
- Participating in Strategic Enrolment Management planning, under the guidance of the Director of Academic Programs, VPA and Registrar’s Office, including student recruitment activities;
- Overseeing contributions from the Skilled Trades programs to relevant promotional publications, including the Viewbook;
- In each term, facilitating Instructor orientation sessions, as well as onboarding new and welcoming back returning teaching staff;
- In conjunction with the Registrar’s Office and Student Affairs, acting as a Skilled Trades programs lead/representative in the cross-Unit academic audit process in each term;
- Representing the interests of the Unit’s teaching and learning community on the Convocation and Annual Celebration Planning Committee;
- Adjudicating admission files and evaluating potential transfer credits;
- Performing grade reviews, including submission and follow up for incomplete and outstanding grades;
- Reviewing grades submissions to identify students at risk and coordinating proactive interventions in support of these learner(s);
- Prior to the start of each program or academic term, reviewing all courses and course syllabi to verify that regulatory requirements and student protection standards are satisfied;
- Stewarding the cyclic self-study of signature and partner programs, per established processes and according to Unit timelines;
- Leading annual quality assurance reviews, including facilitating Instructor and student focus groups, performance reviews analyses of findings, and developing a responsive action plan to implement recommendations;
- Receiving, evaluating, and approving requests for remuneration (honoraria) for guest speakers in regularly scheduled classes, within budget parameters;
- Developing and assuring compliance with procedures for resolving student concerns about teaching staff, courses and/or programs;
- Proactively informing teaching staff of the administration and correct interpretation of academic standards, regulations, and reporting requirements, including distribution and follow up on a clear timeline of all due dates and required submissions;

**Academic Governance**
- Supporting the development, revision, and continuous implementation of SNP academic policies, processes, rules, and regulations;
- Governing the detailed documentation of processes and critical paths, and stewarding the uniform implementation of relevant academic and operational policies across the college sphere;
- Serving in adjudication proceedings related to student misconduct and academic dishonesty;
- Participating in staff, Board, ad hoc and ordinary committee, working group, and program advisory meetings, and staff training and information sessions, as required;
- Performing academic service to augment the profile of the Unit and institution, including preparing and delivering select academic and professional conference presentations, with approval;
- Maintaining active membership in relevant professional associations and representing SNP at various Skilled Trades and Apprenticeship initiatives;
