**Your opportunity**:
Under the direction of the Vice Dean, Undergraduate and Assistant Director, Student Experience & Teaching Development, and working collaboratively with colleagues across the Faculty (including the Learning Strategist; academic advisors; and Case Manager, Community Safety & Divisional Support, FASE), the Mental Health Programs Officer is responsible for the planning and implementation of a wide range of health promotion initiatives designed to build capacity to support student mental health and address mental health within the Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering.
The Mental Health Programs Officer is responsible fordeveloping strategies and delivering programs to undergraduate students within the Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering to promote mental wellness and education on mental health/mental illness. The incumbent is also responsible for providing system navigation and referral facilitation to students with regard to policies, protocols and services related to mental wellness and mental health. The incumbent provides support and advice to faculty on how to identify, assist and refer students in distress.
**Your responsibilities will include**:
- Planning and implementing components of curricular and/or co-curricular programs and activities in support of the mental health needs of students
- Building and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance
- Implementing plans and process improvements for programs and service activities
- Conducting detailed analysis on program efficiency and student learning outcomes toinform program planning activities
- Planning and overseeing the implementation of an evaluation framework for student mental health programs and initiatives
- Facilitating educational workshops, seminars and programs, delivering presentations at conferences
- Following rules and procedural processes related to Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA)
- Promoting mental health awareness
**Essential Qualifications**:
- Bachelor's Degree in social work, health-related discipline, or related fields or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
- Minimum five years in case support work in the field of mental health/student support.
- Experience in creating and facilitating workshops.
- Demonstrated success in developing partnerships across units.
- Demonstrated experience working with diverse student populations, especially individuals with mental health issues.
- Demonstrated experience in providing advice and support to faculty and senior academics.
- Demonstrated experience facilitating group programming and individualized learning.
- Demonstrated understanding of services and supports available to students, staff & faculty related to mental wellness and mental health.
- An excellent communicator and problem solver.
- Have strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- A superior skill as a presenter, facilitator and communicator with the ability to effectively facilitate discussions to achieve appropriate outcomes.
- Able to use an inclusive approach to develop and cultivate relationships with students, faculty, staff and members of the external community.
