**About the Organization**
Working within the Community Development team, and funding through TransCare BC, Trans qathet offers gender diversity supports in qathet, helping to bring together a critical mass of gender diverse peers and two-spirit people, offering supportive spaces and creating open times for people to reach out for support, information, help and assistance from peers and each other.
Lift Community Services focuses on helping all people thrive in the qathet region by reducing social inequities and by providing support and advocacy for anyone who needs it. Our programs and services include employment services, supportive housing and homeless outreach, temporary shelter services, literacy programs, health services, outreach, immigrant services, adult and family on-demand support. We also provide community leadership and development in overdose response planning, poverty reduction planning, and other projects that develop a more connected and resilient community. Lift operates many resource centres in our community, including the local WorkBC Centre, the Community Resource Centre, qathet Complex Care Housing, the iOAT Clinic, the Family Place, and the Dr. Elsie Paul Literacy Centre located at the Powell River Public Library.

**Opportunity**

- **Positions**: 1
- **Hours**: 5 hours/week
- **Hourly Wage**: $25.05 to start, on a 5-step wage scale
- **Time off**: 3-week’s Vacation, 40 hours sick Leave, 1-week Paid Time Off
- **Reports to**: Community Development Manager
- **Start Date**: ASAP
- **Closing Date**: Open until filled

**Key Tasks and Competencies**
- Provide safety as a second staff member for events and public drop in hours
- Practice trauma-informed, person-centred values
- Be able to defuse and/or address crisis as needed
- Provide safety to trans and gender diverse peers in the Tq space in the event of non-peers accessing Tq office space
- Fundraising initiatives
- Outreach with a priority on youth and peers experiencing multiple barriers to service
**Qualifications**
- Lived experience of transgender, non-binary, or gender diversity is a bona fide requirement of this position.
- Communication and relational skills
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with others.
- Demonstrated ability to organize work.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently.
- Demonstrated ability to understand and maintain client/worker boundaries

- A satisfactory criminal record check, including a vulnerable sector check, is mandatory at time of job offer.
