We also provide community leadership and development in overdose response planning, poverty reduction planning, and other projects that develop a more connected and resilient community. Lift operates many resource centres in our community, including the local WorkBC Centre, the Community Resource Centre, qathet Complex Care Housing, the iOAT Clinic, the Family Place, and the Dr. Elsie Paul Literacy Centre located at the Powell River Public Library.

Lift is seeking a part-time Contingency Management (CM) peer support worker (25 hrs/week). This position works with and reports to the Contingency Management Program Coordinator. The CM peer support worker assists the CM program coordinator with the development and delivery of the CM curriculum and associated responsibilities.

**Overview**

- **Start Date**: ASAP
- **Closing Date**: October 18, 2024

**Key Tasks and Competencies**
- Establishes and maintains therapeutic relationships with all participants accessing Contingency Management program
- Ensures a safe environment for clients and staff by adhering to violence prevention, infection control, occupational health and safety standards.
- Contributes to any policy and protocols that are required for program development.
- Performs word processing duties such as basic documentation, data collection, client referrals, etc.
- Keeps up to date on best practices and attends regular training sessions and meetings with VCH
- Contributes to the development of training materials such as orientation manuals and reference documents.
- Collaborates with supervisor and other care providers to identify when crisis support is needed to ensure a safe and supportive environment for all
- Support clients by highlighting relevant harm reduction information and liaising with site staff, including informing clients of relevant community services, programs, and organizations as applicable

**Qualifications**
- Level 1 First Aid
- Non-violent crisis intervention
- Mental health first aid

**Experience**
- One (1) to three (3) years’ recent, related experience in harm reduction working with people who use drugs and/or other marginalized populations or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

**Skills and Abilities**
- Lived experience with substance use is valued and welcome.
- Knowledge of substance use recovery, treatment and harm reduction services
- Understands the concept of “barriers” to services, and systemic issues that contribute to substance use disorders
- Understanding of principles of harm reduction and recovery
- Demonstrated understanding of the confidentiality and sensitivity of the role.
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to organize and prioritize tasks and duties, adjust to new or unexpected events, problem solve and deal effectively with conflict resolution
- Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with a range of community members, volunteers, health, social and community service providers
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
- Ability to work in a space where people are using substances
- Ability to utilize strategies to reduce barriers to care for clients
