As the Produce Associate, you’ll have an impact on hundreds of people in your community each week. Your goal is to learn the skill of handling and preparing fresh produce and prepared foods. You will use food to connect to people and you will be an integral part of a 7 department company that works in unison to provide the most exceptional services to all of our guests. Your work and your success will have a direct impact on our customers and community.

**Core Job Responsibilities**
- Maintain produce department with team and restocking supplies as needed;
- Is able to handle and maintain live, fragile fresh produce;
- Actively maintains and communicates Market & Smor’s produce inventory with the Department Lead, including sell-by dates, overstock, etc. ensuring waste is minimized;
- Is able to work with a knife, cutting, preparing and packaging fresh produce;
- Can make decisions on the spot for quality control to ensure customers receive the highest quality foods;
- Create and merchandise produce displays, making sure only high-quality produce is presented.
- Greets customers when on the store floor, and provides friendly, intelligent assistance to their questions and queries.
- Demonstrated understanding of critical success factors for The Market & Smør concept;
- Adheres to all Market & Smør workplace policies and procedures.

**Qualifications**
- Minimum of one year experience in produce strongly preferred
- Excellent communication skills
- Mathematical and conversation skills
- Ability to work with mínimal functional direction
- Ability to work quickly and efficiently
- Solid knowledge of all aspects of the produce area, operations, and products

**Working conditions**

This is a retail environment. There are many hours standing on your feet while being customer-facing.

As we sell produce, the temperatures are kept very cool. It is often advised to wear layers.

There are many hours with the public coming in and out of the retail store with many different interactions.

**Physical requirements**

The physical requirements of a Produce Associate include:
Regularly required to walk or stand;
Regularly lift and/or move up to 23kg (50lbs.);
Will be required to perform tasks involving firm grasping;
Occasionally be required to bend, twist or squat.

Will be involved in frequent repetitive hand actions.

Will be required to reach above shoulder height and below waist level.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent
Part-time hours: 30 per week

**Salary**: $15.50-$18.50 per hour
