
Plant Manager

**Scope**:
Founded in 1998, SYTEC Manufacturing Ltd. is a privately held Alberta Corporation. We are well versed in advanced metal product design & sheet metal manufacturing across a wide range of global industries spanning telecommunications, electrical grid/power distribution, oil and gas, solar, agricultural and many more. We encourage internal and external collaboration to drive continuous improvements.
The Plant Manager will oversee all aspects of the daily operations of the facility such as scheduling, production planning, quality control, shipping/receiving, maintenance, inventory control, and safety. The Plant Manager will drive continuous improvement and process optimization while ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures.
**Responsibilities**:
- Lead and monitor departmental performance with daily reporting against goals to ensure that progress is being made and that corrective action is taken to exceed customer expectations.
- Supervise production activities to ensure production objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- Provide leadership and training to all employees for Safety, Quality, Production, Packaging, and Maintenance. Monitor shift performance for safety, quality, and production standards.
- Ensure production data is accurately entered into our ERP system to measure and monitor KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) around efficiencies, downtime, inventory and overall production.
- Ensure vacancies are covered for any planned/unplanned employee absences.
- Build a trusting relationship with employees and work toward a positive work culture.
- Oversee maintenance of our equipment and the facility. Develop equipment maintenance schedules.
- Work with other department team members to control and improve efficiencies, minimize labor overtime, downtime, and repair expenses. Implement cost effective systems.
- Develop systems and processes that track and optimize productivity and standards, metrics and performance targets to ensure effective return on assets.
- Promote shop floor organization and plant housekeeping.
- Communicate with employees about performance and set clear expectations.
- Enhance and develop policies, procedures, and service systems to meet the goals of the facility.
- Perform all duties in accordance with Sytec Manufacturing Ltd. safety program standards and Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act, Regulations, and Code.
- Use Lean, Six Sigma, and Theory of Constraint principles and methodologies to improve efficiencies.
- Stay up to date with latest production trends, best practices, and techniques.
- Other duties as assigned.
**Requirements**:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, operations management, or equivalent amount of experience. We want someone who can do the job, not just think about the job.
- Minimum of 5 years work experience in sheet metal manufacturing.
- Proven effective leadership skills, with a strong focus on plant and business processes.
- Ability to identify key issues; creatively and strategically overcome internal challenges or obstacles.
- Possess a clear and solid understanding of personnel policies, practices, procedures, and other operational issues faced by the organization.
- A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills.
- Strong written and verbal English language skills to communicate with all levels of the organization and its executive team.
- Effective attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
- High level of integrity, confidentiality, and accountability. Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills.
- ERP, MRP experience. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Experience or good knowledge with CSA / UL / NEMA / IP is considered an asset.
- Able to read blueprints (CAD drawings).
- Strong financial and business acumen, including knowledge of market trends, technology, and best practices.
**Working Conditions**:
- 44-hour work week, Monday to Friday.
- Pre-approved additional hours may be required to accommodate demands.
- Extremely fast-paced environment.
- Normal office environment.
- Work under pressure.
- Sitting, standing, and walking for long periods of time. Requires constant trips around the production floor.
**Salary**: From $1.00 per year
