Summary of the role:
The Travel Media Specialist is responsible for working with traditional media channels and social media content creators to provide positive exposure of Victoria as a travel destination, to put Victoria top-of-mind, and drive travel consideration. To be successful in this role, the Travel Media Specialist must build strong relationships, carefully evaluate opportunities against identified targets and strategies, have strong written communication skills, manage and balance proactive and reactive activities, and identify and use tools and software to track and report on achievements.

This role requires a strong understanding of traditional media combined with a strong understanding of social media and social/travel influencers, and how these impact ROI for a destination such as Greater Victoria. This is an in-office position based out of our Corporate Office located in Victoria, BC.

**Responsibilities & Qualifications**:
What you need to bring:

- Degree or diploma in Communications, Public Relations,

Marketing or another closely related field or a combination

of education and work experience is required.
- Minimum two years’ experience working in public relations,

as a social influencer, or in a travel media role with an

understanding of the strategic side of earned coverage.
- Excellent interpersonal skills - ability to build and maintain

relationships easily.
- Exception writing skills (excellence in spelling and grammar

are essential in this role).
- Established media/influencer contacts; relationships with key

media outlets/social media channels.
- Experience in tourism or a related industry.
- Strong emotional intelligence and political acumen.

**Salary/Wage**:
$49,000-$62,000/year
