Job Description:
The Clerk II is expected to work closely with the administrative support staff and other laboratory staff as well as the referring health care community.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

- Entering and verifying patient information in the appropriate software(s)
- Obtaining missing information from referral sources as required
- Retrieving, mailing, faxing and scanning reports, and other materials as required
- Handling enquiries regarding the Regional Genetics Program, from the general public and health care providers
- Triaging telephone calls appropriately depending on nature and urgency of the call
- Filing on-site, as well as managing off-site storage of related documents
- Working effectively as a team member within the Genetics Diagnostic Laboratory
- Carrying out other clerical duties and related responsibilities as necessary

QUALIFICATIONS
- Police Record Check (PRC) (Essential)
- High school diploma (Essential)
- College diploma in Medical Administration or related field (preferred)
- Excellent interpersonal and customer-service skills (Essential)
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail (Essential)
- Aptitude for databases/software packages and ability to learn new software packages quickly (Essential)
- Ability to take initiative, work as part of a team and be flexible (Essential)
- Knowledge of medical terminology (preferred)

- Obtenir les renseignements manquants des sources de renvoi lorsque nécessaire.
- Extraire, envoyer, télécopier et numériser des rapports, et d’autres documents lorsque nécessaire.
- Traiter les demandes de renseignements sur le Programme régional de génétique, venant du grand public et de la communauté des soins de santé.
- Faire un triage des appels téléphoniques en fonction de la nature et de l’urgence de l’appel.
- Effectuer du classement de documents sur place et gérer des documents hors site.
- Travailler efficacement au sein de l’équipe du laboratoire de diagnostic génétique.
- Accomplir d’autres tâches au besoin.

QUALITÉS REQUISES
