Reporting to the Lead, Reclamation Vegetation, the Coordinator, Vegetation is responsible for the planning and development of vegetation programs to support operational revegetation projects for the five coal mines in the Elk Valley. These projects include production, planting, seeding, vegetation monitoring, and invasive plant management. This position is critical in the support of Teck’s industry-leading biodiversity program and for compliance with regulatory conditions relating to reclamation and biodiversity management.

Someone who has strong analytical and decision-making abilities with a capacity for practical problem solving. Most importantly, we require someone who has outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, who can engage with the operations, as well as build and maintain these relationships.

**Responsibilities**:

- Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
- Coordinate various production to supply planting stock for revegetation operations
- Coordinate the logistics and delivery of vegetation materials to mines in preparation for operational planting
- Innovate revegetation projects and structured research and development for the Elk Valley
- Coordinate reclamation monitoring program to determine the success of reclamation practices
- Communicate and engage with site Safety, Environment, and Operations teams for reclamation projects
- Support contractor management to ensure work is conducted safely and in accordance with the project scope including EHSC and Environmental Protection Work Plans
- Identify risks, issues, or challenges, develop and evaluate options, and implement solutions
- Support management of project budgets to support the completion of objectives
- Work occasional evenings and weekends during the field season, depending on workload
- General work breakdown is 80% in office work and 20% field work

**Qualifications**:

- Diploma or Degree in Environmental Studies, Earth Sciences (Biology, Geography, Geology, Forestry, Agriculture), or Natural Resource field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Eligible for or already had professional designation; Registered Professional Forester, Professional Agrologist, or Professional Biologist
- Minimum five years experience in an environmental resource management area
- Proficient with environmental data management software (GIS and EQUIS) and with Microsoft Office Suite®
