**The opportunity**:
Reporting to the Supervisor Audio Visual Support, RM, Engagement Services; the position is responsible for performing technical and clerical support of audio visual technology for the University campuses in classrooms, theatres and meeting spaces.

The position is responsible for technical support of computers in the classroom, specialized presentation systems, videoconferencing services and ensuring operational readiness of equipment being used by faculty, staff and students. The position may play the role of an operator in support of events.

Operational readiness includes ensuring classroom, theatres and meeting rooms are ready for use, troubleshooting a wide range of equipment and providing resolution and alternatives when issues occur. The staff supports routine maintenance activities in collaboration with the Infrastructure Run team for audio visual equipment and room functionality. The team also assists as required with equipment installation in audio visual spaces upon special request.

The position coordinates activities in designated zones for part time Technician 1 personnel with day to day activities and provides backup support to peers as needed.

**The qualifications and experience we’re looking for**:

- Graduation from a Community College Audio Visual Technology Course and/or Electronics Course. Community College courses in Computer Sciences required.
- A minimum of one year related job experience clearly demonstrating applicable and relevant technical and administrative experience required.
- Familiarity with software controlling presentation systems required.
- Exposure to IT Service Management (ITSM) principles or current ITIL Foundations certification considered an asset.
- Demonstrated ongoing professional development.
- An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Must be skilled in presentation systems operation.
- Must have excellent negotiation, facilitation and customer relation skills.
- Must know to refer when a decision involves policy.
- Must possess a high degree of computer literacy, proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office and internet browsers for Windows and Mac operating systems.
- Demonstrated advanced workload organization, prioritization and assignment skills required.
- Demonstrated troubleshooting skills and judgment to weigh the needs of the colleague against time constraints, department practices and procedures required.
- Demonstrated ability to escalate when required.
- Demonstrated strong customer service orientation and commitment to continuous improvement required.
- Demonstrated teamwork/collaboration skills required.
- Demonstrated skill in communicating clearly and concisely with a variety of audiences using both verbal and written mediums required.
- Demonstrated technical troubleshooting skills in a wide variety of projection, sound and computer systems required.
- Must be physically fit with the ability to handle lifting heavy objects, running when required, moving in constrained spaces, etc. Such physical capabilities may include: good eyesight and hearing, good manual dexterity in handling equipment.
- Demonstrated mental concentration involving problem solving required.
- Ability to develop strong interpersonal working relationships required.
- Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.
- Must be able to cover operational hours of coverage:
Fort Garry: Monday to Thursday (7:30 am - 10:30 pm) & Friday (7:30 am - 6:00 pm)

Bannatyne: Monday to Friday (7:30 am - 5:30 pm)
