**Job Overview**:
The Youth Mental Health worker will work with Whitesand First Nation health and education staff in Thunder Bay, ON with a focus on promoting positive mental health through activities, programming and individual counselling. In addition, the Mental Health Worker will collaborate with staff to develop and deliver land-based learning activities.

**Job Role Specifications**:

- Develop and deliver programming that is wholistic, and promotes positive mental health.
- Provide individual counselling for youth,
- Assist children and youth in accessing resources and advocate for services for children,
- Liaison with other agencies and participate in relevant committees,
- Prepare and monitor budgets,
- Complete paperwork in a timely manner as requested by the health coordinator,
- Work hours will vary as required by duties.

**Qualifications and Educational Requirements**:

- Sincere interest in working with children and youth, evidence of creativity and initiative;
- Completion of a diploma or degree in social work, or recreation/outdoor therapy
- Knowledge of First Nation culture and programme delivery,
- Be able to deal with people sensitively, diplomatically and professionally at all times,
- Demonstrates excellent communication and written skills;
- Proficiency in Microsoft programs such as Word, Outlook and Excel.

**Conditions of Employment**:

- Sign and maintain an oath of confidentiality;
- Possess a valid Class G Ontario Driver’s License and access to a vehicle with 2,000,000 liability insurance;
- Employment is conditional upon the successful results of a Vulnerable Criminal record check to be submitted prior to start of employment.

Pay: $1.00-$2.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 per week
