Job Summary

The Compass Project Coordinator is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of the Faculty of Arts’ Arts Student Engagement Hub

) which offers programming and resources to support undergraduate and graduate student professional development and student engagement initiatives through 6 pathways of programming, including the Arts Amplifier

). This role is instrumental in the delivery of services intended to support students’ professional development and a culture of public scholarship, community engagement, and work-integrated and experiential learning.

The Compass is a welcoming community of Arts students, staff, faculty, and alumni that offers curated resources and student engagement and career programming to help students make the most of their Arts degrees. The Coordinator will support the Compass leadership and operations teams to plan and execute programming and manage the logistics for all events and programs with support from part-time student staff. This will include working with the Arts Communications team to develop and execute promotional campaigns through Arts social media channels and student facing publications, such as the Arts student newsletter, and in partnership with Arts departments and student groups.

To be successful in this role, the applicant must be driven to improve the Arts student experience and professional development opportunities and be a keen and able communicator and multitasker, able to juggle multiple, time-sensitive activities and build strong working relationships with multiple partners. The incumbent works both independently and in strong collaboration with the Compass leadership and operations teams and staff involved with the initiatives, including Arts alumni and employer organizations.

Organizational Status

The Compass Coordinator reports to Executive Director, Work Integrated Education and Career Initiatives in Arts, and also works closely with the Manager, Graduate Work Integrated Learning for tasks related to the Arts Amplifier. The incumbent will be a member of the Compass leadership and operations teams within the portfolio of the Associate Dean, Students, in the Faculty of Arts.

The incumbent will work independently with direction from the Executive Director, and with staff leaders of the 7 Compass programming pathways. Collaboration with colleagues in the Faculty of Arts and other university offices will be necessary on several projects.

Work Performed- Coordinates and implements student support Compass program pathways designed to support undergraduate and graduate student professional development, including both work-integrated learning and student-led projects. Responsibilities may include: marketing events and programs to students; maintaining and enhancing collaboration with internal and external partners, including faculty members, student leaders and Arts alumni; managing logistics; facilitating in-person and online meetings; developing action plans to achieve program targets and outcomes; advising employers and community partners as to options for work-integrated learning hiring; in partnership with the Arts Alumni team, recruiting alumni to contribute to programming; consulting with funders and off-campus partners for feedback; collecting and analyzing key progress indicators; conducting evaluation of programs and assessment of student learning; and making recommendations to improve programs and services for the future.- Is the primary contact for Arts Communications on behalf of the Compass, and oversees Compass communication campaigns (via social media, other digital communication channels) and
