Indigenous Engagement and Education Coordinator

Reporting to the AVP, Indigenous Education and Internal Engagement (the AVP, IEIE) the incumbent is the first-point of contact for the Office of Indigenous Education and Engagement (OIEE).
The incumbent will field queries or issues on a broad range of strategic initiatives related to Indigenous Education including the United Nations Rights of Indigenous Peoples, equity and inclusion matters and/or assists with appropriate referral/direction to other resources within Sheridan. Coordinates consultations with internal and external communities to address strategies and policies.
The incumbent organizes, supports and facilitates Indigenous Education and Engagement related training, activities and events. This duty includes promoting events, preparing training materials, supporting participants on digital events, including the use of event platforms, etc.
The incumbent provides administrative coordination and support to the AVP IEIE including working collaboratively with the Indigenous Education and Engagement Specialist; schedules meetings, interviews, tracks data and metrics, updates website and social media and provides documentation and record keeping for activities.
The incumbent is the lead contact and facilitator for Indigenous committees or councils and will organize meetings, gather reports, create agendas, liaise with Indigenous community members and internal resource members, etc.
**What You’ll Be Doing**
- Receiving and fielding queries from the Sheridan community related to issues such as Indigenous education,
- programming, curriculum, access, inclusion, and the use of Indigenous Knowledge.
- Supporting identification of issues and providing information and clarification regarding the role of OIEE; gathering information to support decisions around the matter.
- Documenting and recording contacts with the Sheridan Community to support record keeping, and organizing a procedure with CEI to address current and future policies that create access for Indigenous learners and community.
- Providing administrative coordination and support to AVP IEIE and other team members.
- Supporting the creation of documents, briefing notes, presentations, proposals and budgets as well as submitting cell phone bills, p
- card bills, and other expense reports on behalf of the AVP IEIE, as well managing the AVP's calendar and meeting requests.
- Participating in other projects and initiatives as assigned.

- Indigenous citizenship/membership is strongly preferred.
- 3-year college diploma or university degree in related field such as Social Sciences, Education, Indigenous Studies, Office Administration.
- 2-year minimum experience and knowledge related to current trends, issues, legislation, regulation and practices in areas of Indigenous Education and Engagement.(equivalency to be considered)
- Understanding of the diverse college community groups (faculty, staff, students, campus visitors).
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to interpret policies, procedures and collective agreements.
- Proficient with computer software (e.g. MS Office Suite, WebEx, Zoom) and experienced with website content maintenance (including accessible document creation) and social networking tools.
- Experience in a post-secondary, multi-union environment is preferred.
