Position Information

**Position Title**
- Institutional Research Manager**Position Summary**
- The Institutional Research Manager is responsible for providing management of institutional research activities required to collect and report information used for institutional decision-making, planning, and accountability purposes across the Polytechnic. The incumbent manages the planning, design, confidentiality, coordination, and implementation of institutional research projects in support of the strategic directions of the Polytechnic. This position works closely with the Schools, Divisions, and administrative service units across the Polytechnic in managing institutional research projects.
- The Manager ensures that data is collected and analyzed according to rigorous standards and practices and that project results are reported and communicated in a way that facilitates evidence-based decision-making throughout the institution. The Manager is responsible for hiring, training, supervising, and managing the performance of institutional research staff. The incumbent participates in the preparation of strategic and annual plans and reports by refining and reporting on performance measures related to Polytechnic goals and priorities.The Manager develops and maintains positive working relationships with a variety of contacts inside and outside the Polytechnic. This position requires considerable judgement to effectively handle multiple projects within a fast-paced environment, functions in the absence of daily supervision, and is open to constant challenge and continual change.**Position Responsibilities**

**Required Qualifications**
- Minimum of undergraduate degree in Social Sciences or related field of study
- Minimum of 4 years related work experience
- Minimum 3 years progressively responsible leadership experience including direct supervision of staff
- Demonstrated analytical skills to draw relevant conclusions and make effective recommendations from research information and data analysis
- Demonstrated expertise in synthesizing significant amounts of data from various formats into summative information, reports, and recommendations
- Demonstrated effectiveness in the management of change initiatives
- Ability to actively engage and collaborate effectively with a broad range of individuals across the institution
- Demonstrated capacity to exercise sound judgement in sensitive situations and maintain strict confidentiality
- Demonstrated project planning, organizational, and time management skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of research methodologies, principles, and techniques
- Demonstrated knowledge of survey research and sampling methodologies, and questionnaire design
- Working knowledge of survey software, statistical analysis software, scanning software, and other related technology used for research, data analysis and reporting purposes

**Preferred Qualifications**
- Project Management certification an asset
- Knowledge and awareness of the operation of a post-secondary institution is preferred
