**Position Overview**

As the Internal Auditor, you are responsible for facilitating a systematic and ongoing internal evaluation of risk management, internal controls, and governance processes. You will lead, plan, and execute all internal audits, delivering results and providing recommendations for improvements to enhance the effectiveness of internal controls. You will monitor policies, procedures, and controls designed to safeguard the assets of the credit union and the financial dealings of its members.

**What You Will Do**

**Your key responsibilities and accountabilities include**:

- Develop and enhance internal audit program for the credit union.
- Lead and independently conduct internal audits.
- Prepare audit reports with findings and recommendations.
- Verify compliance with prescribed regulations, policies, procedures of all internal controls.
- Identify breakdowns in controls and opportunities to improve existing policies, procedures, processes, and risk management.
- Communicate audit findings to the business leaders for review and discussion, recommend corrective action and process improvements.
- Recommend and implement solutions to mitigate risk, map processes, identify associated risks, assesses and designs control systems and processes.
- Deliver on-time and in-compliance with leading practices and audit standards.
- Plan and executes audit of transactions, activities, and accounts of all business areas of the credit union.
- Assist external auditors and regulators as required.
- Maintain awareness of emerging issues in the regulatory environment.
- As a trusted business partner deliver audit training to business leaders.

**Skill and Knowledge Requirements**:

- Post secondary education in business, finance, or similar field required.
- Finance designation an asset.
- 5+ years of experience as an internal or external auditor in the financial sector required.
- Knowledge of FSRA (Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario) required.
- Strong working knowledge of governance, risk, control frameworks, and audit methodologies.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with all levels within the organization, including senior management and external auditors and regulators.
- Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) designation required.
- Strong project management skills demonstrated by ability to complete multiple projects with competing priorities while meeting deadlines.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, including experience drafting formal audit reports
- Self-motivation with a passion to learn and embrace new challenges.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Applications, with strong proficiency in Excel required.

**Working Conditions/Physical Effort**
- Professional, team oriented, office environment.
- Standard corporate business hours based on 37.5-hour work week from Monday to Friday from 9 am to 5 pm; ability to work overtime, if required.
- The physical demands are representative of those that must be met by being able to successfully perform the essential functions of the job; these include, but are not limited to sitting, considerable use of computer and phone, and seldom moving of items up to 25 pounds in weight.
