**Home/Building Repair Handy Worker**

Brampton Caledon Community Living (BCCL) is an organization that supports individuals with an intellectual disability in partnership with their families and the community to lead enriched and meaningful lives. We are looking for a home/building repair handy worker to provide basic repairs and maintenance to BCCL’s properties to maintain a safe environment for the people we support and our workers.

BCCL offers a competitive full-time salary, beginning with 3 weeks paid vacation, a lucrative family benefit package after 3 months which includes health and dental, long-term disability coverage, life and out-of-county insurance, an EAP program, sick benefits, a personal day, and a 3% RRSP organizational match.

**The responsibilities of this position are as follows, with other duties required**:

- Travel to and from our home/building properties with a personal and reliable vehicle in Brampton & Caledon during work hours (mileage will be compensated) to perform basic carpentry, building maintenance, electrical, plumbing, woodworking and painting duties.
- Retain a variety of power and hand tools
- Respond to emergencies such as floods, broken/clogged pipes/drains, power failures, etc.
- Perform home exterior and ground maintenance
- Move and/or assemble furniture and equipment at various BCCL locations
- Prepare written material (e.g., repair status, activity logs, etc.) to document activities and/or convey information
- Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work sites
- Self-starter, work independently, ability to multi-task, make quick and smart decisions, troubleshoot, and effectively prioritize work orders
- Work independently and make quick and smart decisions while on-site
- Report all hazards and safety violations to the Property Manager
- Perform other related duties as assigned

**Education and Experience Requirements**:

- Minimum of 1-2 years working in a general maintenance role
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD)
- Basic knowledge of carpentry, electrical, plumbing, woodworking, and painting
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Able to work flexible hours to meet BCCL’s needs
- Valid Ontario G driver’s license, the maintenance of an acceptable driving record, valid car insurance and use of a reliable vehicle during working hours
- Clear Police Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Screen

**Physical Requirements**:

- Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds
- May be required to work at heights and/or in varying temperatures
- May work in conditions of bright or inadequate lighting
- May be exposed to noise that can be loud or distracting
- The work environment can be dusty, damp and/or can take place in semi-confined spaces
- Some repetitive tasks will be required
