Calgary, Canada Community Living Alternative Services Full time

Kigep Community Support Programs (KCSP), a division of CLAS, is currently seeking a new hire to fill the **Full Time** position of **Community Disability Service Practitioner (Youth Support Worker) **in our Calgary Residential Support Program. **This is a 12 hour day shift, running from 0900-2100 (9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.) in a 2 week rotation of Thursday to Saturday with alternating Wednesdays.**

**Position Summary**: The Youth Community Disability Service Practitioner is a frontline position responsible for daily residential care and support to youth with developmental disabilities and behaviours of concern (BOC’s). The BOC’s may manifest as acts of physical aggression.

**Knowledge, Skills, Abilities**:

- **Ability to confidently provide front line, face-to-face support to youth with varying challenges
- Proven ability to work with mental health concerns, self-harming behaviors, and verbally or physically aggressive tendencies
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to respond/remain calm in emotionally charged situations
- Positive attitude is a _**must**_
- Mid-level computer skills (ability to navigate websites, online training, and MS Office software)
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Must be able to identify issues, set priorities, and implement an appropriate plan of action
- Proven ability to work collaboratively
- Previous experience supporting youth with multi-diagnoses is preferred

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Assist and support individuals to access and participate in the community in a meaningful way
- Able to identify behaviors of concern and help implement support plans
- Assist individuals in the development of social skills and meaningful relationships
- Be aware of and adhere to established policies, practices, and operational protocols
- Assist in or provide support with personal care routines such as bathing, dressing, and grooming when needed
- Assist as needed with daily household chores such as cooking, cleaning, and laundry

**You will bring**:
**Education**: Post Secondary Education in Social Services, Youth Development, Rehabilitation Studies, or Disability Studies, and training in CPI are all considered strong assets to the role.

**Experience**: A minimum of one (1) year of experience supporting minors with complex needs. Previous experience working with FASD, Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD and ODD an asset. A combination of education and experience will be considered.

**Hours**: This is a 12 hour day shift, running from 0900-2100 (9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.) in a 2 week rotation of Thursday to Saturday with alternating Wednesdays.

**Other**:

- Must have a Class 5 or better driver’s license issued in Canada
- Must have a reliable car with personal liability insurance and minimum third party coverage of two million dollars ($2,000,000.00)
