The Tŝilhqot’in Nation (Nation) is a world leader in advancing Indigenous rights and title, as demonstrated by the landmark Aboriginal Title Declaration from the Supreme Court of Canada in 2014. The Nation is currently implementing a ground-breaking tripartite framework agreement (Gwets’en Nilt’i Pathway Agreement) with the goal of transforming, over the next 5 years, the fundamental relationships between the Tŝilhqot’in Nation and the Federal and Provincial Crown governments.

We are currently looking for an Emergency Services Coordinator who will be an integral member of the TNG team, as the **Emergency Services Coordinator **you will be responsible engaging with the six communities of the Tŝilhqot’in Nation to improve community safety and security through mitigation and prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery. This is not an entry level position and previous experience in the field of Emergency Management is preferred.

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Engage with the six Tŝilhqot’in communities to support in all aspects of Emergency Management;
- Work with communities to identify their priorities and work collaboratively with partners to implement solutions;
- Engage with external partners, government officials, stakeholders and the public;
- Establish, develop and maintain relationships with Municipal & Regional District Emergency Management sector in the Cariboo as well as Provincial entities;
- Capacity building and community development - work with education/employment coordinator to schedule and register community members/contractors for training and employment opportunities;
- Coordinate training for the Tŝilhqot’in Nation in Emergency Operations;
- Project administration and management for grant based projects;
- Community Education - Personal and community preparedness;
- Determine volunteer/employee training needs as necessary and develop, implement, and monitor a training plan;
- Provide support to the Emergency Service team;
- Plan, coordinate meetings, training courses, managing list of invitees and follow up;
- Provide administrative support for Collaborative Emergency Management team (CEMA) and other EOC and CEMA duties as required;
- File management and file management development;
- Inventory management for equipment and development of a system with annual inventory
- Manage information flow in a timely and accurate manner;
- Represent the organization in a professional and courteous manner;
- Make travel and accommodation arrangements;
- Screen and direct phone calls and distribute correspondence;
- Maintain professionalism and strict confidentiality with all materials, and exercise discretion when interfacing with the business;
- Work within the policies and procedures of the Tŝilhqot’in National Government; understanding program services, polices, procedures, rules and regulations;
- Register for training opportunities in courses related to emergency management;
- Due to the nature of the role, flexibility will be essential as some weekend/out of hours work will be required during periods of emergency;
- Other duties as required.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Post-secondary education in a relevant field (Administration, English, Communications or other);
- Previous experience in emergency services;
- A working knowledge of Emergency Management and Incident Command, experience working within EOC considered an asset;
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment;
- Superior verbal and writing skills;
- Proficiency with all Microsoft Office software;
- Exceptional organizational skills, with proven ability to meet deadlines in a professional manner;
- This position requires someone with a strong understanding of the workings of the office and communities;
- Highly resourceful team player, able to work independently and make sound, informed decisions;
- Proven ability to maintain confidentiality;
- Understanding of the Tŝilhqot’in Nation or other indigenous organizations is preferred;
- A valid BC driving license is required.
