- Riverside College- Electrical Level 1 Foundations Program Instructor- 1.0- Grade 12 and Graduated Students- Continuing- September 5, 2023Qualifications:

- A Valid B.C Teaching Certificate or ability to meet the requirements of the Ministry of Education Teacher Regulation Branch
- Journey Person qualifications in Electrical ( Red Seal )
- Five years’ experience as an electrical journeyperson
- Recent successful experience placing students into industry related work experience/job placements
- Recent successful teaching experience
- Experience as an instructor working with youth and adult learners
- Learning Assistance training or experience is an asset
- Demonstrated ability to work as a team member in a self-paced, multi-disciplined environment
- Knowledge of SkilledTradesBC Construction Electrician Foundation Curriculum
- Knowledge of industry related resources and community resources
- Possess current knowledge of, and involvement in, industry trends
- Knowledge of best business practice
- Knowledge of technology and computer based learning and support materials
- Knowledge of on-line leaning platforms ( Zoom, MS Teams, Scholantis)

General Duties:

- To provide classroom instruction that is reflective of industry competencies in a continuous intake/modular setting model to students registered in a Foundations Level One trade certification program
- Develop and implement SkilledTradesBC guidelines in the development of related curriculum and course work
- To teach employability skills as they relate to industry
- To liaise and collaborate with post-secondary training partners in the implementation of the program
- To facilitate student success and course and program completion
- To identify suitable student Work Study placements and follow School District Work Study guidelines, practices and procedures for student Work Study
- To serve as the Teacher Advisor for students in the assigned program
- To conduct regular and on-going assessment of student progress leading to a formal evaluation/letter grade in accordance with the requirements of SkilledTradesBC and the Ministry of Education s
- To provide regular and on-going reporting of student attendance and progress as per Ministry of Education guidelines
- To arrange for formal industry related testing as appropriate and in consultation with postsecondary partners
- To assist students outside one’s teaching assignment as requested and where appropriate
- To liaise with industry contacts at both the regional and provincial levels
- To assist students in finding industry related work experience and job placements
