CHEO RI has an immediate requirement for a Post Doctoral Fellow.

Dr. Corsi is a Scientist at The Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) Research Institute, Associate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and School of Epidemiology and Public Health, University of Ottawa, and Epidemiologist at the Better Outcomes Registry & Network (BORN) Ontario. He is the Principal Investigator of the Substance Use in Pregnancy Epidemiology Research (SUPER) Group, a dynamic, multidisciplinary team of clinicians, scientists and research staff dedicated to researching biological and social determinants of substance use in pregnancy and its impacts on health in pregnancy, infancy, and childhood.

Dr. Corsi is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to lead and support Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) funded projects focused on establishing the trends, determinants and maternal, fetal and child health outcomes of tobacco, e-cigarette, cannabis and other substance exposures in pregnancy. The successful applicant's responsibilities will centre on using health and administrative data from ICES, Statistics Canada and the Better Outcomes Registry & Network (BORN) Ontario.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the general supervision of Dr. Daniel Corsi, the Post Doctoral Fellow will:

- Design and undertake analyses of e-cigarettes, cannabis and other substance exposures and health interventions in pregnancy,
- Conduct literature reviews to critically appraise the relevance, accuracy and limitations of published data and analytical methods in meeting the needs of the research questions under study,
- Liaise with collaborating clinicians, scientists, and research staff to ensure that project objectives are met,
- Assist with grant/manuscript writing and submissions,
- Prepare and communicate findings in the form of reports and peer-reviewed publications, rounds, and scientific conferences, as required.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- PhD in Epidemiology, Public Health, Population Health, Biostatistics or related health research fields (Essential)
- Strong analytical abilities to manage and manipulate data using statistical software programs, such as SAS, Stata, or R (Essential)
- Excellent data management and data visualization skills (Essential)
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills (Essential)
- Proven ability to work independently, take direction from various sources and prioritize workload with particular attention to detail (Essential)
- Ability to multi-task, work accurately and effectively under pressure, meet deadlines, and remain composed in high-pressure situations (Essential)
- Ability to effectively communicate in both oral and written formats for both technical and non-technical audiences (Essential)
- Proficiency in using Microsoft platforms (SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) (Essential)
- Knowledge and experience in using large health and administrative datasets, including those managed by ICES, Statistics Canada and/or the Better Outcomes Registry & Network (BORN) Ontario (preferred)
- Experience in protocol development, grant writing, manuscript writing, and making/delivering presentations to scientific audiences (preferred)
- Knowledge in the areas of Canada's health care system, clinical research methods, and perinatal research (preferred)
- Bilingualism (English/French) (preferred)
