BioScisionLabs is seeking an Analytical Chemist to join the team with prospects of moving into a Lab Manager Role.

BioScisionLabs is an analytical chemistry laboratory providing services to several Stakeholders within the Canadian cannabis industry. The job entails working directly with Cannabis and various Cannabis products to ultimately provide a Certificate of Analysis (CoA) required by Health Canada prior to cannabis being released for human consumption. BioScisionLabs is operated under Good Laboratory Practices and is working towards cGMP and ISO17025 accreditation(s).

The Analytical Chemist will have expertise in chemistry and analytical sciences as they pertain to the operation and maintenance of HPLC-UV, HS-GCMS/FID, ICP-OES, LC-MS/MS, and GC-MS/MS equipment and assays. Experience in method development, method validation, equipment troubleshooting/preventative maintenance, and optimization are essential assets.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Fill technical roles as needed during routine sample processing
- Review and report daily sample results, conduct out-of-specification investigations
- Writing, revising, training and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Perform assay development, optimization, validation, and troubleshooting, as needed
- Perform equipment calibrations, maintenance, troubleshooting, and documentation
- Assist in attaining additional laboratory accreditations (cGMP/ISO17025)
- Ensure that safety guidelines (WHMIS and Biological Safety) are followed at all times
- Operate with respect to the Personal Health Information Act (PHIA) and company/client privacy policies
- Other duties as required/assigned

**General laboratory duties**
- Maintain laboratory records and inventory management
- Preparation of chemicals and reagents as required
- Maintain an orderly and efficient laboratory environment
- Daily/Weekly laboratory cleaning duties
- Organize, store, and dispose of all chemicals and reagents appropriately
- Destruction of completed controlled samples
- Other duties as required/assigned

**Requirements**:

- Graduate Degree in a Chemistry-related program with at least 1 year previous industry experience or non-graduate diploma with at least 7 years previous industry experience.
- Extensive Experience in Analytical Chemistry
- Strong communication skills and leadership potential
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Excellent manual dexterity and ability to stand for long periods of time in the laboratory
- Maintain confidentiality with all information entrusted to the position
- Must successfully complete WHMIS training
- A criminal record check will be performed

**Compensation**
- Full-time permanent position
- Starting wage is based on education and experience
