Global Payroll Specialist (12-month contract)

The opportunity

At the core, the Payroll Specialist's responsibilities include collecting and reviewing employee information and working hours, payroll calculations, preparing and processing employee and regulatory payments, and maintaining accurate payroll records for Ontario Teachers' Global Payrolls. This role is the primary contact for Global Payroll related matters.

Who you’ll work with

You will report to the Manager, Global Payroll and collaborate with members of the People & Culture team.

What you’ll do- Calculates, collects, enters, processes and verifies output, for any global payroll, benefits and pension data, including but not limited to: salaries, timesheets, incentives, sick leave adjustments, leaves of absence without pay, severance pay, benefit & pension deductions/taxable benefits, vacation pay, maternity top-up, leaver forms (i.e. ROE, IR56F, etc.); into applicable systems (payroll, pension providers, benefit providers) for Canada, USA, UK, Singapore, Hong Kong, India- Maintains and monitors accurate records of employee data (current and future) impacting payroll and pension within applicable software systems to ensure data integrity- Prepares payroll reporting and reconciliations to be presented to Manager for review- Responds to internal and external related inquiries, investigating, summarizing and resolving/presenting findings and closing down Service Now Case management tickets- Prepares and processes cheques for third parties such as union dues, united way, government remittances, legal parties etc.- Reviews and prepares journal entries and cheque requisitions to reflect all payroll transactions including bank charges, accruals and reconciling items- Reviews and reconciles year end filing for each country, and provides input into year-end project planning to ensure successful filing and remittances- Supports the implementation of the creation of new payrolls in existing and new countries- Assists with upgrades to Workday and Payroll platform systems- Monitors the new hire onboarding process, supporting new employees during onboarding with policy, process, system questions and follow up

What you’ll need- Minimum four years’ payroll experience in Canada, UK, USA, Singapore, Hong Kong, India required- Post-secondary education, Finance, Accounting is preferred- Strong working knowledge of payroll & accounting principles and practices- Strong knowledge of global payroll practices, procedures and relevant legal regulations- Excellent working knowledge of payroll systems (preferably ADP systems i.e. Workforce Now and Celegro)- Advanced Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (written and verbal) at all levels in the organization
