**SUMMER STUDENT - Special Events Planner 2023**:
**_Duration: Eight weeks_**

**Number of positions: 1**

**Hours/week: 35 hours per week**

**Wage: $17.50 per hour**

**Mission statement**:_ _**_Rygiel Supports for Community Living serves people who have a developmental disability and multiple handicaps. The services are determined by a person’s individual needs and are designed to enable each person to be a fulfilled participatory member of the community._

The Summer Student Special Events Planner will work in a manner which effectively models and reinforces Rygiel’s established Vision, Mission, Values, attitudes and standard of support.

**QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE**
- Current Criminal Reference Check - vulnerable sector
- Currently a full time student in a relevant post-secondary education (University or Community College) and/or returning to full time school in the fall of 2023
- Meets the eligibility criteria to qualify for wage subsidy with the Canada Summer Jobs program for the 2023 year
- Knowledge of or experience with persons with physical and developmental disabilities
- Ongoing commitment to and participation in continuous learning
- Current CPR and First Aid Certificate is an asset
- Valid driver’s license and availability of a reliable vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage is an asset
- Proof of vaccination is required

**JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES**

Interpersonal Communication
- Works within and nurtures a team environment as well as working independently
- Maintains a positive, nurturing and effective rapport with the person(s) being supported, the support staff and other team members
- Organizes and completes tasks independently under the supervision of the Community Resource Facilitator
- Written communication as required for the presentation of reports, other documentation and correspondence
- Demonstrated oral and written English language proficiency appropriate to the language requirements of the position and specific to the individuals being supported. Fluency in French is an asset.

Problem Solving/Decision Making
- Systematically seeking alternative solutions to identify or anticipate problems and to respond to emerging opportunities or needs
- Making appropriate decisions regarding actions to be taken in consultation with other team members

Availability
- Monday to Friday - day shift at the specific, assigned work site (this is not a remote position)
- Willingness to be flexible and adjust working schedules according to the needs of the role and the agency
