**Youth Program Facilitator, Empowering Against Exploitation**
**2.5 month Contract, Full-Time**
**Anticipated Start: May 2023**

Empowering Against Exploitation (EAE) is a unique, gender-responsive program for girls between the ages of 12-24. EAE programming is offered weekly to groups of 8-12 girls in schools, residential facilities and other community settings. EAE is designed to participants’ attitude, knowledge and skills as they relate to exploitation, and developing an understanding of recruitment tactics to better recognize and avoid these situations. EAE also addresses substance use, sexual and emotional health, online safety, examines vulnerabilities, builds self-esteem, and provides connections with resources.

The Program Facilitator must be available to work out of various locations in the Peel and Halton regions. The hours for the position vary from Monday to Friday, and evening hours may be required.

**Areas of Responsibility**:

- Manages and facilitates the operation of EAE groups, with activities that will assist clients in their emotional, social and educational development
- Provides support to clients during program activities and encourages increased independence and self reliance
- Creatively markets and secures approval from school boards, community centers, and other related organizations to partner with for the facilitation of EAE programs for girls. Provides competent presentations on EAE as needed.
- Develops and maintains professional relationships with stakeholders and community partners within the community.
- Plans and manages a budget for program materials used during group facilitation.
- Recruits and maintains students and/or volunteers co-facilitator for group facilitation.
- Provides additional support, coverage and programming for on and off site Section 23 programs.
- Keeps abreast of trends, community resources and developments in the youth care profession by participating in workshops, conferences, and continued professional development.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Manager or designate.
- A degree and/or diploma from a University or College in a related field with experience working with vulnerable populations; prior experience working with youth females is considered an asset
- The ability to maintain and encourage confident assessment, counselling and program facilitation skills in order to engage, support, and interact with clients using a trauma-informed approach
- Practical knowledge and experience facilitating gender specific and responsive programming
- A thorough understanding of issues pertaining to youth
- Strong community development and collaboration skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; proven leadership skills and strong knowledge of community resources
- Diagnostic and interpersonal skills to deal with a diverse client group in a diplomatic and non-judgmental manner
- Problem solving and leadership skills, with the ability to judiciously handle crisis situations with clients
- Valid First Aid / CPR certification
- A clear Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSS) - criminal background check
- A valid Ontario driver’s license
